At least they kept in the touch up icing, even if they went to touch-up offsides. The trapezoid thing is stupid, and shouldn't really affect things too much. It should be interesting to see how eliminating the red line for two line pass and icing affects things. The other thing that might change things a fair amount is the no line changes for a team after they ice it - no rest for the weary.
I have never seen "touch-up offsides" in use, but by the way it sounds, there should be a lot less stoppages. Also, I dislike the idea of not allowing goalies to play the puck behind the net. They developed those skills and now they're not allowed to use them (see Broduer)? Two-line passing will hopefully help break this painful trap defense, while moving the net back towards the boards along with smaller pads, should help scoring. Overall, I like the new changes, not to mention the shootout at the end. But they should play two OT periods, the first being 4 a side, and the second 3 a side before going to a shootout. Open the ice up and let the players win the game playing hockey, then go to the game of luck in the shootout.
