They lost me with their bull**** Napster grandstanding. I won't even say their name.

I'll do a Top 5 of people who left or never joined the aforesaid group...

1. Dave Mustaine (leads a much better group, Megadeth)
2. Cliff Burton (had to die to get out)
3. Les Claypool (auditioned, but was too good to join, later formed Primus)
4. Jason Newsted (formerly of an also superior group Flotsam & Jetsam and later Echobrain)
5. Bob Rock (unofficial member (played when no bassist) and producer who helped turn them into pansy rock)

Quote:
They lost me with their bull**** Napster grandstanding.

So you are in agreement that digital piracy is ok?

...note there is a long speech here but I just won't go into it.

#1) Yeah Megadeth was faster and lot more political than Metallica..but better? I believe where the bands are now tells this tale a little differently. And if you saw "Some Kind OF Monster" Dave was crying like a byatch that he got kicked out and it "ruined him."
#4) going with the superior tag is a bit much.
#5) ...you can't be Teenage Thrash forever. The Black Album is when they started playing better as a band. YOu could argue that Load and Reload were not as "Metallica" as previous efforts...they were definatley a more "rock" sounding record than HEAVY METAL. St. Anger went back to the faster/harder Metallica sound.

seems this has desolved into naming Top 5 so...

The Black album is when they fell apart. Come on. At least they rocked before that and didn't have egos. It was also after that album that they sold out and became more concerned with $$$ than music.

No, I am not in favor of music piracy, but I am also not into music groups that aremore into $$$ than they are music.

Have you checked out Flotsam & Jetsam? I don't mind someone saying they aren't as good, but at least check them out first.

Yes, Blind Melon is one of the most underrated bands of all time. Shannon Hoon has one of the most distinct voices. His lyrics are so undeniable real, I can paint a picture (in my mind) with his symbolism. I feel and understand what he's saying. He covered John Lennon's "Working Class Hero." John Lennon may have felt empathy for the working man, but he couldn't relate to them. Shannon Hoon could. Another fine cover is "the Pusher." Here we see Shannon juxtaposing Hoyt Axton's version. Instead of "*** **** the pusher (i.e. drug pusher), Hoon flips the script by saying "*** ****, *** **** that bible pushhhinn mannn!"

As for my Top 5... Top 5 next destinations (Heaven doesn't count):
