so I got the FAH console running on my linux box...my question is, if I want to shut down/reboot my computer, is there any way I can stop/pause the FAH client so it can be resumed later? I hate to just X-out & close the terminal window and lose the hours of work if it's halfway done or more. i couldn't find an answer on the FAH site right quick so just thought I'd ask here.
thanks.

Warning: I am probably the least qualified person to answer this question (I run F@H, but I don't bother it and it don't bother me), but I figured I'd give it a shot.
Per the F@Home FAQ:
Periodically, the core writes data to your hard disk so that if you stop the client, it can resume processing that WU from some point other than the very beginning. With Tinker, that happens at the end of every frame. With GAH it happens at the end of each sequence.
Again, I basically have no idea what I'm talking about, but it seems to me that the client will save progress on a regular basis by itself. So if it's 55% through a work unit and you reboot, when the client is restarted it will resume work at the last spot it saved, presumably the beginning of the 55%.
I could be completely and utterly wrong, but at least I gave the thread a bump and increased the chances that someone with a clue will see it. :D
EDIT: Question - when you say you 'hate to X out and close the terminal window' what do you mean? I run F@H on a Linux box too. It starts at boot and runs in the background. I don't have any visual connection to the client other than the log file.
1) Using default F@H install... it saves progress every 15 to 30 mins; so you don't lose all your work.
2) Using "FAHscript" -- the popular script to install Folding@Home and auto-configure it for all your CPU(s), just ./FAHscript stop ... and it'll save all your progress
3) Using Gentoo -- an init script in standard location is provided by Gentoo. /etc/init.d/foldingathome start/stop/restart
