Lets see we almost knock off the #1 seed thursday ...setting it up pretty nice for your Tigers...a #2 versus #5...if i'm a Tiger fan i like that much better than facing Ohio State saturday...instead most Tigers early friday morning were overjoyed that U.T. lost...i dont get that ...i really dont care what another team does...you dont hear on e.s.p.n. ...Vols win big game over so and so at Neyland stadium saturday night and to make matters better Memphis lost to Southern miss ....If anything it would help your program even more if the Vols , Commodores and whoever else in the state got better in hoops..i could care less about winning some smack talk debate with a jerk in the office...good luck next year.

I wanted to play the dolls all along, to avenge the earlier loss, but I was torn about it; watching the dolls lose is never, ever a bad thing, under any circumstances.

It is what it is. You play who you play. Do I think Memphis had a better chance against UT? Absolutely. Does that matter now? No, it really doesn't. UT is the only team I can say plays a more up-tempo game than we played this year, and they lived and died by the three. Yes, I rather play Ohio State than UT because it is a good measuring stick, even if we did lose yesterday. Forget about Thursday, that ship has sailed a long time ago.

A vol loss is always special. Seing the press conference with sweaty pearl blaming the refs.... priceless!

That was special, wasn't it? Fortunately, for the most part, we don't blame the refs publicly. Cal didn't, a few of the players did but the coach is the one that matters.

doesn't matter what anyone else knows or thinks. all is well when ut lofton loses.

It didnt happen so why talk about it now? The vols couldnt get it done after getting hot with the three ball and the better team came out on top. We played the better team and we had some chances but osu played better yesterday. End of story!

Actually, yes, it does make sense. Why, in God's name, would any Tiger fan want the Vols to be able to say they made it to the Elite 8 for the first time in history and played for the Final Four? We never want you to think your program is on par with ours. As it turned out, we AGAIN made the Elite 8 and played for the Final Four. This pleases me more than possibly playing you turds again, for I am the first (and maybe only one) to admit that in an NCAA tournament game, it's not a given who would have won. We played the team we were meant to play, just as your team was meant to be sent packing two days earlier.

There is no little brother feelings here. Does utk have little brother feelings towards Florida??? There is an amazingly inordinate amount of Florida envy at utk as well as on utk boards. I understand the jealousy but do you feel the hillbillies have a little brother complex?

utk played very well when Memphis traveled there this year. They had a nice little tourney run before choking away the game against osu. Memphis had a very competitive game against osu as well, leading by 5 with ten minutes left and being right there until Lewis' three extended the lead.

Don't come on this board trying to tell Memphis fans and alums what makes sense. We would have been happy to run utk out of the Alamadome, but utk was not good enough to make it far enough. We were. I suggest instead of you worrying about why some Memphis fans enjoyed watching utk's choke job, you worry about the widening gap between utk and Florida, as well as the widening gap between this year's overachieving Loftons and next year's yet again national title contending Memphis.

Wrong!!! The UT hatred spreads way further than 40 miles in West TN. I live at least 96 miles from Memphis and I really have to say I despise UT. And there are plenty more where this comes from.

Actually Mimi ..im white as a sheet...but as i told someone who asked about a week ago lived in the nation of cameroon for several years growing up and have made numerous trips back to the west african nation since...have traveled to over 30 countrys in my lifetime about 9 in the continent of africa and am well versed in the subject ...I'm sorry if i upset you it just cracks me up when any fan base starts the name calling ...but i guess you have answered my question...Go Tigers and Vols and go Cameroon!!.. note U.C.L.A. has two players from Cameroon and J. Noah's Granfather is from there..

Memphis has no choice but to play UT.

They are the only Tiger football opponent that draws any fans.

And they are the best team on the Tigers terribly weak basketball schedule.

If those games were canceled would Memphis even still have a Division 1 athletic program??? Barely.

Feel free to hate UT, but as a fan would you really want those games to go away? Compelling games for your athletic teams are already so few and far between, who would you get excited to play if you couldn't circle UT on your calendar every season?

If UT wanted to lose $2-3 million a game to come into Memphis and play an SEC opponent on a Tigers' open or road date just to appease their Memphis Alumni, the Liberty Bowl would roll out the red carpet for them.

Do you really think Vol fans, alumni and administrators lie awake at night worrying about whether they play Memphis in any sport? We have beaten them one time in nearly 40 years of football games (1-20), they still lead the Basketball series (7-11) and the only winning series we have over them is Baseball at (13-8)

Your attitude is why lots of Memphians don't care to play you anymore.
Our Basketball is not a problem cause our Coach can fill up our out of schedule games with National programs.
Football is better for you than us cause you get to bring that ugly *** color down here and parade around.MInd you we can't compete year in and year out in football with you but same goes for you guys in BB so there is a draw there.

The Tigers drew 35,000-40,000 per season WITHOUT the Vols on the home schedule.

The Vol fans proved Thursday night how they really feel. They had the first chance to show their support of teams from the same state by cheering the Tigers on during the Texas A&M game. And I'm sure some of the Tiger fans woulda reciprocated the support for the Vowels against the Buckeyes. I saw only 2 fans across the stadium and one behind me cheering for Memphis. I overheard a nearby conversation between a local and a Tennessee fan. The local asked the Vowel fan if he was gonna cheer for Memphis and his response was, "We don't cheer for a high school team."

Am I glad the Vowels loss???

africavol : In all of your travels surely you must have encountered the rare creature "the period." I can only speak for myself, but the reason I was so happy was because Memphis won, and UT had one of the biggest chokes in NCAA tourney history.
