With all due respect to my fellow Tiger fans who post regularly on this board, I don't think the Bengal Board is in the best interests of this site. I do not have any where near 1,000 posts and probably never will, but I am no less a rapid, Tiger fan than anyone.

Although I do not find it necessary to post something every time I feel the urge, I do rely on this board almost exclusively for inside information and greatly enjoy many of the exchanges with Tiger and non-Tiger fans.

Now I'm essentially out of the loop.

You're making a mountain out of a molehill...the Bengal board has very little traffic on it. If you were really missing out on something special, the traffic count on it would be significantly higher that it is.

Go Tigers!
But the board has not been around for that long yet. The first time I saw it was when I logged in this morning.
TigerTim Wrote:But the board has not been around for that long yet. The first time I saw it was when I logged in this morning.

It's been around for quite a while. I usually forget it is even there. You aren't really missing anything. Most schools boards have something similar except you have to pay for it.
It's definitely not anything to get upset over. The traffic is very low there.

So which banned MT.org poster is this???
TigerTim Wrote:But the board has not been around for that long yet. The first time I saw it was when I logged in this morning.

Don't worry, tigertim, you are just 2 post away from the 1000 threshold. Other poor saps like me have alot of posting ahead of us to just have a chance to join the elite of the elite. I really don't care and won't worry about it until all the good info and stuff stops being posted in the forums I can actually access. And if it does end up ruining this board for me, all I can do is move on (wouldn't be the first time)! Hell, I remember posting and chatting on the Rivals board years and years ago (pre-Coach Cal days). I really do love this board and hope having a "special" forum doesn't ruin it for majority of the fans that come here to share with some of the greatest fans anywhere in the world, us Memphis Tigers fans. Just my 2 cents....

Haven't got a clue what your talking about, but dividing anything into parts diminishes it and leads to less use. Its not my board but why do something that divides it? Why fix something that's not broke?
i thought it was werid seeing this morning without loggin in

Yeah, that is a great point (sarcasm). Considering there are no less than 13 forums on this site and it is still thriving, I believe the point is fairly moot.

Is that 40 inches? Man I'm in! I can do that in 2 or 3 secs easy.

I'm curious Solo, you appear to have been registered since Feb of 2004 yet all 7 of your posts have been fairly recent. Was there something that changed that precipitated this post flurry of late? Either way, welcome to the active poster list! Please contribute often, there is no elitism, I think there may have been 10 posts on the Bengal Forum in the last week. I barely remember to check it......

Never noticed but with the plethora of forums already, would it make sense for it to go buh-bye? Or is this where the insider info is we hide from the UT/OM trolls? If so, I guess I'll get there eventually (haven't checked my post count).

Go Tigers!

Regardless of the traffic I think the implications of what it means is a little bothersome. More posts means some kind of elitist stature. So a person like Idaho Tiger isn't worthy of such a membership? I think we are all 'elitist' as Tiger fans.

Folks, anything posted there is posted out on the main forum too. The point of that forum is to not have to deal with fans of other schools from chiming in also.

Is it elitist, well I guess it is, but believe me, this main forum is the one we all use.
I really see no harm in it. If someone is taking offense then they're probably taking the message board way to seriously. If you have 1,000 posts or more , you have contributed quite a bit to this forum so I have no problem with the idea ( and when Idaho gets there he more than desreves it). Notice it does say that one has to request entry......so just becuase some moron racks up 1,000 posts of nothing but garbage doesn't mean said moron will get in.
Correct me if I'm wrong---aren't these the same exclusionary tactcs the BCS employs against us?

SURELY NOT!

That's correct. The 1,000 threshold is the minimum requirement (though there have been some special cases for those with less than 1,000 but those are VERY few and far between). Once you reach 1,000 posts you can request entry into the forum and your membership is put up for a vote by the members of the Bengal Forum. That forum is run more democratically than the rest of the forums here in that the users have the voice on the direction of that specific forum.

Now excuse me while I go out to the country club and play some golf. ;-)
How did we get outed?

The "secret" board has been up for almost a year. What happened?
Can I nominate this for the most inane thread of 2006? 01-lauramac2 05-lurk

This will be my last post. I am going to stop at 999 so I can never call myself elite.

I am standing up for the little guys!

So they finally gave it (the secret board) a name.

Just one recommendation, put your country club forum at the bottom of the list not the top, that would be LESS snobby.
Oops I goofed that one. Actually it was just a lame attempt to increase my post count.
Chi-TownTiger Wrote:Oops I goofed that one. Actually it was just a lame attempt to increase my post count.

Yeah, now people will be motivated to add a lot of "bumps" and "nm" to get cheap posts, or they will just start posting inane topics or responses to increase post count.

Quantity does not equal quality.

Let them. Like I said, getting to 1,000 posts doesn't let you get in the forum. You will be voted on if you apply for membership at 1,000 posts. If the majority of the folks in the Bengal forum vote you in then you get in.

I first started posting under the name BigETiger, then changed it to Solotiger.

I enjoy the discussion on the board immensely, but don't like getting caught up in discussions. I found, as I'm sure many of you have, that it can take away from work time.

Lately, I've gotten the urge to post again. Don't know why, but then, there are many things I don't know.

It could be that I have recently increased the available nicotine on the board that could bring the habit back. ;-)

Sounds plausible to me! Post away.....no fun unless everyone contributes.....

The burning question is how did you know about it if you can't see it?
This morning, the Bengal Board was listed as the first forum on the front page, so naturally, I saw it because it was there.

Now it is not there, and therefore, neither you nor I see it because it isn't there.

I hopes this helps.
Uh, go back to the listing of the boards and scroll down, it's there.

It's has nothing to do with eliteism, and everything to do with posters who are regular posters on here. There usually isn't anything on the Bengal Board that isn't on the regular board. Well except when we make fun of all the rest of you that can't get on the Bengal Board but otherwise it's about the same so stop whinning. You can always track down FUT and go to his board.
MM

The Bengal Board was the first board listed on the board list this morning, then it was moved. I thought it had been removed as did the poster I responded to. My mistake, I see it now.

Nice to know guys like me are being made fun of on the Bengal Board -- by non-elitests of course.
Solotiger Wrote:Nice to know guys like me are being made fun of on the Bengal Board -- by non-elitests of course.

As SCC said, I hope you know I was only being sarcastic with my statement. The Bengal Board is like a reward to those of us who have reached the 1000 post plateau. Maybe a better way to think of it is that those of us with that many posts need to get a real life because we spend way too much time on a message board.

I just wonder how many that have 1000 posts have been denied entrance so far. It seems like a clique to me. But thats ok i guess. Its your board do what you like. Im interested to see what happens when I get to 1000. 05-footinmouth

I never knew about the board and I got a email one day with congrats for making the board. I know that I am not well liked by several board members and I checked my vote and it was something around a 14 - 8 vote or something like that. Not a clique I think. If you have 1000, you more than likely get in not unless you just absolutly piss people off.
