An interesting little post from the Mississippi scout site brought this up..
* Duke Calhoun WR 6-4 185
* 80 Maurice Jones WR 6-2 214
* 84 Mario Pratcher WR 6-4 220
* 87 Carlton Robinzine WR 6-3 202
* 83 Ryan Scott WR 6-4 207
* 89 Carlos Singleton WR 6-8 195
vs. this:
* 28 Nate Banks CB 5-11 180
* 4 Bryan Brown S 5-9 200
* 20 Charles Clark FS 6-0 195
* 3 Trumaine McBride CB 5-10 180
Can you check the roster for me and tell me how tall Dexter McCluster, #22, is?
greatly appreciated.
Congrats to the Rebs on that three point drubbing.
I can see how you are enjoying wasting your time going back and finding those who saw it playing out the other way.
What with it being such a complete victory. lmfao
COngrats, now win with class.
Go Tigers!
I do believe our passing game was VERY effective against your team.
I don't think you can throw a lot at us and say "there, I told ya so" other than your offensive line played very good. Much better than I thought they would early this early in the season.

Well of course you caught the ball, that's not what I was questioning, nole. Try to keep up.
For the last 3 months, EVERY poster here claimed that BECAUSE of the height advantage, they would "hit Mississippi deep all day long.."
We brought a TRUE FRESHMAN at 5'9" and 170 to the table who outgained all of your 6"5 guys COMBINED. (I credit that to the fact that your miracle worker JLD left him against a LB all day long IN MAN COVERAGE.... you want to talk about getting outcoached??? WTF?)
Height isn't everything, and I told you that before the game.
oh, and by the way...
McCluster just turned 18 last week.
Fair enough...so do I get to go over to RebelGrove and call out all those idiots who predicted the usual 35-7, 42-13, and 45-10 garbage...?
Well, hoka, Hankins outpassed Schaeffer--so is he a better QB?
Memphis did throw all over you, so how do you feel about a mid major QB flustering you all day.
I stand by my 4-8 prediction for your team.

Good point.
Your Offensive Coordinator outcoached our DC all day long and also credit to Schaefer. The man showed a lot of class. I was very impressed.
But our height DID play an important role. We WERE able to throw fade routes and endzone jump balls... That was MY point all along. We had a pretty effective passing attack and think we could've opened it up even more and been more effective.
It was a good game. I didn't give Ole Miss credit and thought it would be a blow out, and I was wrong. Your offensive line played very well out there and our DL didn't. You didn't spank us, destroy us, own us, outcoach us or anything else. You beat us by 3 points in a pretty evenly matched hard fought game. I hope Ole Miss is back because that means Memphis will be really good in C-USA.
I don't hate Ole Miss, I just don't like your head coach or ignorant & obnoxious fans.

Bottom line is both teams are evenly matched and 1 mistake by Ole Miss and it might have made a difference but we didn't cause any turnovers.

oh, and in case you forgot - McCluster didn't kick the field goal that won you the game. he was just answering Carlos Singleton's touchdown in the first quarter. you act like you just beat california by 30+ points. for pete's sake, get over yourself.
you will find out how "FAR superior" you
aren't when you lose to the likes of georgia, alabama, auburn, lsu, and arkansas.
but on the bright side, its still enough to get you to a bowl game. maybe even the Liberty Bowl!

This is what I love about your Memphis fans... you get smashed in the face by our running game that CONTROLLED THE GAME, and you want to talk smack.
We didn't kick any field goals... because we didn't have to. We dominated you on 4th and 1's and scored a couple of times on them. We won by 3 because of the desperation act you had to do late in the game on the 2 pt conversion.
Once we had the ball back, the game was over.... we put some more ground and pound on and RAN OVER YOUR FACE.
Please don't be so ignorant as to keep talking smack.... you got slapped... over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

please don't be so ignorant as to say that we got pounded when all you could manage to do was win by 3. we took the 2 point conversion home, and there was nothing you could do to stop us defensively. the turnover cost us the game. our turnover. not your amazing bjge. not your star freshman with the trick play - those were desperation attempts to put points on the board, (over and over and over because that's all he had to work with) because zerogeron knew that the Memphis Offense was matching up well, and continued to put points on the board (without high school playbook calls), and
despite the fact that jld only put 3 down on the line.
if you were so dominating, why not just pound bjge the entire game and win by 28 points? the answer - because you couldn't. zero knew it, and TW knew it.
you may want to switch to your left hand, your rosy right palm is tinting your glasses.

How did I know there were going to be a few people that were going to continue to talk smack after we beat you.

2 in a row, going to be 3 in a row after next year!!

(the reality of the situation... you've won 2 games in a 10 year span)

Somewhat like 2004? you only won by a TD.... so I guess you were just lucky to win.
We won by 3 because we didn't NEED to score again.... we could sit on the lead, and WIN....... and we did just that.

nobody used the word "domination" in '04 either.
Aside from the smack, Hoka does have a point that the height differential played no role in the game, like quite few posters on here were expecting it to. Memphis tried a couple of routes that would take advantage of the height difference, but never connected on one. I can't particularly remember a single play where height came into play. On the first TD pass, you could argue that if our LB was 2 inches taller, he could've broken up the pass, but other than that, height didn't play a role in the passing game for either team.
Hankins had a great day and impressed me, but most of what he did was on swing routes, slant routes, out routes, and other routes that make no difference if you're throwing to someone who's 6-9 or someone who's 5-5. The one deep ball that Memphis did hit, the receiver was so open, it didn't matter how tall he was.

Stay classy.
The First TD of the game was thrown to 6'8" Singleton which he caught OVER the defender.
There WERE a couple of fade routes to our WR and only 1 of those was broken up (this done by your tallest DB). So our height of our WR did play a little role. You can't say it played ZERO.
Ole Miss won. I haven't ever hated them in the past, but I haven't had to deal with their coach or as many obnoxious fans.
Your coach has calmed down quite a bit, if he continues maybe I will just think he is cajun goofy and live with it. Right now, I still think he is totally obnoxious. I don't think ALL Ole Miss fans are ignorant, racist or rednecks, but SOME of them are!
I like the rivalry and the smack talk, especially when it deals with current event. Currently you have a two game winning streak. Both close, hard-fought games, but you WON BOTH! I can admit that without thinking that my Tigers suck because of it.
I already look forward to next years game, because I think it will be a great game. You will be at our house and we both have a lot coming back. You won't have Patrick Willis, but we will have to contend with your improved O and O-Line. Hopefully, I won't have to wait until then and we can see each other in late December at the Liberty Bowl, I WOULD LOVE IT!!!

San Diego.
Doss rattled off over a 100 yards, in part because our WRS held their blocks and did not allow your DBS to maker tackles. In our offense, that is critical. And I wouldn't brag too much on your secondary, because they were phys dominated the entire game by our WRs.
You won, you played better, and you executed when it mattred. Congratulations.
Now !@#$ off.
you did pound us on the ground. we couldnt stop the run.
we pounded you through the air and doss racked up his
fair share. we had to settle for 1 fieldgoal and you didnt.
was the diff in the game. thats why its important to be
able to be physical in football. we dont have that abilty.
you did and won. congrats.
if i were you i wouldnt gloat to much tiger high put up 25
on you. you better improve on def before sec play starts.

rebel after you guys lose the opener you can go ahead and
get the shovel out cause your season will be burried. nothing
unusual these recent yrs. its either beat memphis or no bowl.
thats pretty much whats hanging on the game for the rebels.
we lose and we still have a good shot at a bowl.
You might get to a bowl... one played before Christmas... a
WEEK before Christmas.

The offensive line play for OM was the difference, but some of your posts are just being plain stupid. Hankins had a great game 21-27 with 2 TD's and no interceptions. And Benjarvus Green-Ellis was great, and I can honestly say, I was afraid of that. If you look back at my posts, I thought the Tigers would win and if OM won it wouldn't be because of Schaefer's passing. I was afraid of BJGE. But as far as getting smashed, you do realize that Doss had 112 yards and had the same yards per carry average BJGE did, he just had four less carries. OM won, time for us to move on and you to learn were the Missouri board is.
