If they do I hope they pick a higher number. Maybe Corey Peterson's #85.
yeah none of you rednecks would kill anyone at that speed.

A Memphis fan calling Ole Miss students rednecks? Interesting. Don't get out of Fraysier much do you?
HHhhmmm, you may have a point. Pot meet the kettle.

while i don't believe the archie said those things at a vol function, he DID in fact make some comments that some thought were negative aimed at Uh-Oh. one in particular was something about how Archie had never heard of naming a starting QB before he ever got to campus or enrolled.
the OM 'faithful' were up in arms at how their fearless leader of the past would dare to question their current Hall of Fame coach.
dont know if it was at a official vol function or what, but that is the
way it was told to me. thats why i started it with rumor has it.
hotty anyone who would call themself hotttotty is a redneck......
First they call us an inter-city commuter school, now he calls us a bunch of rednecks. I'm getting confused what they think we are? Maybe Oxfart is just a suburb of a redneck city(Memphis) with an intercity college (Memphis). Heck I don't know?

Oxford is an oasis of beauty in this world of pain.
The funny thing about people calling other people rednecks, is that is meant as an insult but true rednecks don't mind being called rednecks at all. Anyone that stereotypes Ole Miss as rednecks is just applying their stereotype of Mississippi (the state) to Ole Miss. It is usually a good sign that they haven't spent any time in Oxford.
HottyToddyGuy Wrote:Oxford is an oasis of beauty in this world of pain.
OMG that is the most gay thing I have ever heard. And they aren't rednecks in Oxfart, just alcoholics.
Dude, you kill me. You act like Oxford is Harvard or something.
The only stadium I have ever been in, and buddy I have been in a few, that had a sign that said ' NO STICKS" was in Oxford.
So, explain that--Mr. Neck--

I've been to Harvard, and it is nice. I'd rather be in Oxford. Why do you want sticks at a game? Explain that Mrs. Neck.

Why do ya'll need a sign that says NO STICKS?
necks love sticks, it would seem--
egrizzard Wrote:necks love sticks, it would seem--
So is that why you are upset you couldn't take sticks to the game? You love them, I get it. Dude, leave your sticks at home. There is no place for them at a game. They will be there when you get back.
My stadium has no sign reading "no sticks"
Yours, however, has in the past.
Riddle me this--how can a stadium built to accomodate 50k plus have parking for 10k? ( maybe)
Answer: The engineering dept was making a "no sticks" sign.

Your stadium? I'm pretty sure that is the city of Memphis' stadium. We have a campus stadium. I know that sounds crazy to you, but I'm kind of glad that our campus doesn't look like a huge parking lot. There are plenty of places to park even for the biggest games if you know where to go. It is certainly not a longer walk than some of my experiences at the Liberty Bowl. What exactly do you do with these sticks that you are so eager to take to ball games?

Very similar to "country club snobs" then being called a "redneck"....
make up your mind.... those two are at either ends of the spectrum.
yeah--my stadium. Live in Shelby County--pay taxes, you know the rest.
Again, your stadium, not mine, had the no stick sign. It is getting a little boring with your play on words to try and detract from the truth. We all know they have the no sticks sign so you couldn't wave that stupid flag.
Oh , and another thing--as for obnoxious UT fans in Knoxville--ever thought that people in Memphis think all the " Miss" fans might be obnoxious?

Flags are still allowed, just no sticks. I've never heard of signs being put up. Maybe there are signs in the visitor's sections, but I've never seen them.
I live in Nashville, not Knoxville. Ever think that everyone (including other Memphis fans) think you are obnoxious?

I find you obnoxious, plus why do you assume he lives in Frayser because he thinks you are a redneck?
in a word--yes.
But, the name of this site is
MEMPHISTIGERS.ORG.
Even if they do, I am willing to bet they like me better than any rebel fan---

There are many lovely people that live in Frayser. Some of you have too much hatred in you. Relax.

Memphomike calls us rednecks out of the blue. Usually anyone that knows much about Ole Miss doesn't refer to the students as rednecks. People that do are usually projected their sectionalist views of Mississippi on Ole Miss. In my opinion sectionalists and rascists ride in the same boat, but I digress. There are some rednecks there, like any school in the south, but the typical stereotype is spoiled rich kids. There are plenty of spoiled rich kids there, like any school. For someone to use the wrong stereotype and be a Memphis fan it usually means they have never been to Oxford and don't get out of Memphis much. At least that is my opinion. I threw in the Frayser barb to imply that he was a redneck. In my opinion people that call others rednecks are usually rednecks. People that call other people rascists are usually rascists. Anyway, I have nothing against Frayser. Hell, I grew up in Raleigh. It wasn't much different, although we claimed it was.

I'm assuming you know the real answer to this question, but I'll play along. Sticks are banned at VHS quite simply because legally, the Confederate flag couldn't be banned. Something about constitutional rights made it illegal to ban a symbol from a public function. Anyway, our administration got creative and banned sticks using the reason that they could be dangerous to other fans so the ban would hold up in court if need be. The stick ban included the sticks that flags are hung on. Now, you can still bring whatever flag you choose to the game, but you just have to wave it without a stick. If you've ever tried to wave a flag without a stick, you'll see that it really doesn't work too well, hence you really don't see flags too often at Ole Miss events anymore. A few people will bring them, but you will barely be able to notice them, because they are so hard to wave.

There is no arguing with this statement!
one little ol world started all this. i said you guys would kill someone
at that speed and all you hung on to was redneck?
memphomike Wrote:yeah none of you rednecks would kill anyone at that speed.
You have some hate issues you need to deal with memphomike. I suggest you go to the Grove early drink a beer or two and just chill. You might have a good day regardless of the game.
