we lose to UAB again? 04-chairshot Hackney is gone
you will be spanked by the Rebels. It won't even be a close game...

doesn't matter, they were beating us before Hackney. We are just snakebitten against those guys.

You losers say that every year, yet we beat your or you beat us by a slim margin. You keep losing your players and pretty soon you'll have to play both ways.

you wish wussy.... we'll see come Sept. I would be a little worried if I were you, you don't even have a QB on campus. You won't be able to beat your own ... well, you know the rest. GO TIGERS!!!!
rebel after you guys lose the opener you can go ahead and
get the shovel out cause your season will be burried. nothing
unusual these recent yrs. its either beat memphis or no bowl.
thats pretty much whats hanging on the game for the rebels.
we lose and we still have a good shot at a bowl.

I would agree with alot of that prediction, especially on the basketball side. However, I say we will beat UAB without Hackney and go 8-4. I think we could be in New Orleans, Mobile, or Birmingham bowling at the end of the year.

Could you possibly share the schedule you are looking at to determine these regular season wins and losses? 05-stirthepot ;-)
astate the last game we played was your win. you guys just didnt
know how to secure it and gave it to us. dont see you beating tommy's
team here in memphis.

yeah...not s'much
I predict 10-1.

Don't remind me that game still makes me ill. It was amazing how fast that went from being an awesome day to a terrible day. I loved it we had a good time tailgating with you Memphis fans if only the 4th quarter had never happend the day could have been saved.

But seriously you guys can't dismiss us that fast can you? We're a much better team this year than we were in 2004 when ya'll we're ranked #25. Have you improved your team since then?
memphisrebel Wrote:you will be spanked by the Rebels. It won't even be a close game...

We may lose, but I think you are delusional if you think the Rebels win in a blowout.
memphisrebel Wrote:you will be spanked by the Rebels. It won't even be a close game...

This is the same guy that says he and his wife were accosted, in bright sunshine and hundreds of people around, after the Tiger/Missississippippi game here in 2003. He gave them his wallet and said "Take the girl but please don't hurt me!".

His credibility is questionable.

TIGERBAKER

well they do have Baseball! maybe they should join CUSA since they are on levels with the likes of Rice, wait Rice actually showed up against us during the basketball season with their team hunger and fans.
Ole Miss- the Vandy of the West
dismissed....
Ole Miss fans crack me up . . . First of all anyone who was 3-8 last year shouldn't talk sh** to anybody. Secondly, the entire hopes of your program are on the shoulders of a guy who hasn't even gotten to oxford. Do you seriously believe he is studying the playbook when he can't even finish a correspondence course at the college of the sequoias??? Come on.
But yet every ole miss fans is predicting a bowl and a blowout over memphis like schaffer is some kind of messiah that is going to turn around a sorry program that is continually losing players from an overbearing coach.

I totally disagree with these predictions. I think we could have an 11-3 year including a conference usa championship and a bcs bowl. Probably the losses are going to come from UT, UTEP and another one from Tulsa or Houston. The thing about a tommy west team is it gets better in the year and we could possibly get UTEP, especially if a BCS berth is on the line. Arkansas State fans please give me a break, our program is too strong. Ole miss could be a close game but they didn't impress me last year, we lost because our qb was out after two snaps. period.
UT's defense could shut us out, UTEP is a solid team as is Tulsa and I think Houston has the talent and the hunger to beat us.

As far as basketball, i would expect 30 wins again. Whoever said 28-7 please name the seven. I'd say at most 1 loss in the Maui, 1 CUSA loss(UAB or Rice), I think we play at Gonzaga and at UT. I don't think UT has the toughness to beat us. So I count 3 losses and maybe an off night or two. But our team isn't that much worse than last year. Did you see the florida recruit that transferred? Is Dwash and Allen a much better backcourt than Allen and Kemp? I guess we'll see. We will be top ten again though.
memphisrebel Wrote:you will be spanked by the Rebels. It won't even be a close game...

Thats right before your mom comes in there and turns the playstation off and tells you to brush your teeth.

we lose and we still have a good shot at a bowl.

You're dead on with that. We beat you guys last year and still finished last in the SEC, while you guys went on to a bowl game. That's what conference affiliation will do for you. Are you so sure you want to join a BCS conference? Getting to a bowl game in a BCS conference with 8 bids is still tougher than getting to a bowl game in a non-BCS conference with 5 bids.

For the record, I'm not predicting a blowout of the Tigers. Only fans that don't pay attention to Memphis, or our own team for that matter, are doing that. I'm actually picking a loss for us in the game, not necessarily because of my opinion of Memphis, just simply because I'd expect us to struggle with anyone not in the Sun Belt or D-1AA in our opener this year. I just don't see any way that we'll be ready to perform on the same page by that point of the season.
I would be willing to make a bet up to $500 with one individual, or lesser amount to multiple individuals totaling no more than $500, that given we go through the year with no injuries to key players or unforeseen events such as suspensions or dismissals, that our basketball team will earn no worse than a #3 seed and have no worse than 5 losses going into the tourney. Guessing 28-7 and a 4 seed seems like reading too much into the media predictions, and not really basing it on what we really have.
I also cant imagine that many losses along with a Maui Invitational Championship, considering that would give us wins against our toughest OOC opponents. I think UT will be a tough game given the addition of Crews and Chism. I really think we'll beat Arizona and Gonzaga fairly easily.
your bet is mute. you can't garuntee an injury free season or lack of willingness or matureness by a player. when have we had a non-injury free season? besides, funny thing is sometimes those playing injured have a freak night. see Hunt vs. Cincinatti, or even Wade vs. Dallas in game 3, didnt he have a bad ankle or something?

Hell yes we want in a BCS league - with the kind of money Ole Miss has been able to piss away, our sheer location would put Memphis light years ahead of you. This is scares most of your fanbase!!!!!

Technically, his bet is mute since he typed it and nobody heard him actually say the words. However, I am sure that he is not mute when asked in person about how he feels.

This year Allen will be one year more experienced. And I truly believe a freshman healthy Kemp will be AT LEAST equal to a wounded sophmore DWash.. especially after he gets a couple games under his belt. Both Carney and Williams were inconsistant and had a lot of off nights. Carney didn't even start most of the time because he was so inconsistant. And it's general concensus that Williams did not live up to expectations last year (he got drafted mostly on potential). So add another year of experience to CDR, Anderson, Dozier and Dosey and I think that would at least come close to offsetting the loss of Carney and Williams. Now add Mack, Niles, Willis and Bailey, and we have more than made up for what we lost last year, especially when you consider we'll have even more depth. If we win the Maui tournament, we are top 5 all year with a very real possibility of a #1 spot opportunity a few times in the year. But regardless I think the most they could lose this year is 5. 3 losses is the most likely.

Those 2 NBA players and 1 professional player were sure holding us back, much like DeAngelo was holding our football team back because he was so good we overemphasized the run . . .

That said, I think CDR can probably come close to replacing carney's output, and dozier will do a passable job of replacing Shawne's production. The problem is our perimeter shooting is gonna be a lot worse this year unless Willis/Mack have sweet strokes.

Good point J. You could count on Darius hitting the 3 at least. He was an overall threat even though he will be remembered for the drive.
memphisrebel Wrote:you will be spanked by the Rebels. It won't even be a close game...

Actually jackass, if you promise to join us Labor day for a postgame discussion, we should allow you to continue to run your mouth and show your ignorance on this board.

The game is in Oxford. Tigers football and b-ball have good recent history in Oxford. If you want to talk about spankings in Oxford, remember how our men in b-ball kicked your *** by 30 in Dec.?
Football

8-4 regular season. Losses to Tennessee, UAB, UCF, and UTEP. I know listing the Blazers as a loss is maddening, but I will NOT list them as a "W" until the game is over and MEMPHIS has more points than UAB.

MEMPHIS again goes bowling, either to Houston or Mobile.

Basketball

I have not yet seen the final schedule but the only mystery is who the last major OOC opponent will be. I just want it to be a home game in January or February, especially if CBS can arrange it.

My early guess right now is 6 losses, with about 4 of them before the conference schedule begins. I would say 2 losses in Maui, at Tennessee, at Arizona, at Houston, and maybe whoever that final big OOC game is against. There is talent on this team but it most be meshed with the existing players and team philosophy.

I hope MEMPHIS surprises everyone and goes 31-2. But let's not diminish the talent that is gone - D-Wash, Shawne, and Carney were pretty damn good, folks.

But I expect once they start clicking, they will begin to dominate big time.

However, the early losses will hurt since C-USA is pretty weak except for Houston, UAB, and UTEP. A February game at Gonzaga will help some, but they also lost their two primary stars.

The seeding committee will put MEMPHIS as a 4 or 5 seed but put the TIGERS in the New Orleans/St. Louis venues. If that happens, and the TIGER fans pack the joints, a Final 4 run is possible.

MEMPHIS will be one of the major dark horses come March.
boss man Wrote:I hope MEMPHIS surprises everyone and goes 31-2. But let's not diminish the talent that is gone - D-Wash, Shawne, and Carney were pretty damn good, folks.

Extremely well put.

As athletic as Anderson, Dozier etc. are and as promising as Kemp and the newcomers are we lost our 3 best players.

We will be good and capable but not as strong as last year. For all the complaining about DWash not being a pure point guard his absence will be notably missed in close games.
we will spank you...

we won last year...(wait, sorry to bring up the past)

so far Coach O owns the tigers...

I loved all the people last year at the Liberty 07-john Bowl that wore those Coach O-1 t-shirts. good idea. that is arrogant.

some fans from other schools post a bunch of junk that they don't believe to kiss your butts. I could care less about that. I do commend the admins of this board though. they do a great job keeping this board up to date. wish ole miss had a site like this.

I don't care to be your friends...I post the truth.
Quote:so far Coach O owns the tigers...

Ok - you win 1 game under coach Orgasm in the last seconds of the game with their 2nd string QB in and you own them???? Please.

Ole Miss is pathetic. Always has been and always will be. Coach mOron is the laughing stock of the SEC and everyone knows it.

And that hummer commercial is classic. He coaches about as well as he acts.

Quit embarrassing the SEC and getting your free ride.
phat phil is spent. UT, by far, has the most off-field problems in the SEC. Miami's program is cleaner.

welcome to the bottom of the sec. I'm used to it, but some how I think it ticks you off more. Vandy is the current SEC champ in the state of Tennessee.

Every squirrel finds a nut every now and then. We will give them 1 win every 25 years.

We have a losing season about once every 20 years. You have a winning season about once every 20 years. I would take those stats any day.

I don't think mOron is your answer. But he does have good taste in SUV's - a humma. He could probably move back to California and be a big time actor after he is fired from Suck Miss in about 2 years. His commercial was awesome. 04-rock
