it looks like there has been a lot of media attention given to the first game you tWerps have against NIU... I believe this is going to be an awesome game... NIU 27 - tWerps 24
the MAC rules!!!

27 - tWerps 24
Yeah, that'll happen. When hell freezes over.
NIU has gotten much better in the last couple of years... they have a running back that is getting a lot of media attention... their running offence is tough to handle... I don't think the tWerps will be able to stop them...
If your team is so good then why do we get all kinds of flack for scheduling cupcakes.
First, KingBob is not an NIU fan(Toledo, I believe). Second I hope you guys look past us to FSU(but I don't think your coach will let that happen). Your fans will likely be in for a rude awakening. We may not win but you will know who we are after the game. Good luck this year, except against Northern Illinois University(also known as NIU) of course.
yes, RobertN is correct in stating that I am an Toledo Rocket fan first!!! (Toledo Rockets... kinda just rolls off the tounge...) Anyway, I am also an avid MAC fan and support my fellow brethern... So, let me just say this... I will be whole heartedly routing for the NIU Huskies to beat the ba-geebies out of the overrated... overblown (tWerps)
Hey, anytime you want to pit the size or your tWerp coach against ours... we shall need the oversized scale... :roflol:
(also, your Offensive Coordinator is from the MAC... you can keep him)

It seems like lunacy runs abandon throughout the MAC. Why don't you tell your league officials to change the title so as you don't seem to represent a greasy, nasty, fast food item. :stupid:
BTW, how many Div. 1 National titles does the MAC own? Maryland has more confrence titles in football than basketball, a National title in football, and the following have been coaches of our, uhem, basketball school, as you say, for football:
Bear Bryant, Jerry Claiborne, Bobby Ross, and now the Firdge.
Let's see, you omniscient football wizard, if you happen to recognize any of those names. If not, maybe mommie and daddy will let you go out and play more often so as you can view the real world.
Your flames serves as nothing more than pure jealousy, not that I blame you for it.
NIU=Not Identifiable or Understandable
Toledo=*big laugh ensues* Wasn't your town represented wholeheartedly by a cross-dressing psycho by the name of Klinger... bwaaahhhaaaaah

:snore: Glad you think we are a cupcake. By the way, did you know the line is only 8(although, I have to admit it is apparently up from the 7.5 at which it started)? Hope you are coming out to DeKalb for the game so I can see you go home :crying: Oh,yeah, I almost forgot I am REALLY impressed VERY jealous of your teams history(not).
P.S. Good luck to you guys this year(after our game of course).
For Metro 6775:
NIU is short for Directional Indianna Community College, and their mascot is a Saluki, which is some kind of a dog.
I'm glad that the NIU fans are enthusiastic about the game, I wouldn't expect anything less. But I predict pain. Turner will be taken off the field late in the first quarter.

And I predict that you have been reading WAY too much of the Maryland Insiders site. Not to mention not being very smart for listening to those fans who obviously do not have a grasp on college football. As for Turner, I doubt it but anything is possible when you play a good team like Maryland.
Robert = hook.line.sinker
You are correct, I don't know a thing about football. But I betcha it will be a tough game for all concerned. NIU is not taken as lightly by the MD coaches and players as they are by us fans. It should be a good game for the first half, but NIU will be attrited and the Terps will win going away, barring a rash of turnovers.
[quote="RobertN"] [quote="gmaniac1"] [quote="KingBob"] yes, RobertN is correct in stating that I am an Toledo Rocket fan first!!!
Y'all do know...that this NIU bunch beat Wake last year
and almost beat them the year before...losing by
3 at Wake.
Also last year they lost at Wisconsin 24-21 and
the Badgers had to come from behind to win that
one.
The year before...they lost 17-12 at Illinois, and the
Illini were a Nationally ranked team then. If I'm not
mistaken...they were the Big 10 Champs.
Friggin' Toledo, what a joke.
I'm sure Joe Paterno would agree with you. :stupid:
Prediction: Maryland 31 Northern Illinois 27
The article in the post today about Mike Turner from No. Illi was enough to get me a little scared but I still think the terps can beat them if they play hard.

Yeah right, we'll pound em even if we play like turds.
Turds!
NIU 13
Maryland 13
1:00 left in 4th Qtr.
Tied at 13, going to overtime.
Do you guys believe in NIU and the MAC now? No matter who wins, you have to admit we are better than you thought!
NIU wins 20-13 in overtime! Insert mouth in foot Terpy!
It seems like lunacy runs abandon throughout the MAC. Why don't you tell your league officials to change the title so as you don't seem to represent a greasy, nasty, fast food item. :stupid:
That's BIG MAC to you!! :stupid:
Well TWERPY, you're prediction, as Maxwell Smart used to say, missed it by "that" much !!!
On a serious note, that was a very competitive game. Maryland likely does have better athletes than NIU. But the Huskies simply executed better and made more clutch plays. (That Maryland guy really "skied" to block that field goal attempt in regulation.)
And MAC fans really do appreciate an ACC team (as Wake also did) playing on a MAC's team's home turf.
Yeah right, we'll pound em even if we play like turds.
:roflol:
NIU 20, Maryland 13
27 - tWerps 24

Just remember who started this thread... and Why!!!! That is all I am going to say... even after being brutalized and personally attacked... Awesome game tWerps!!! Go NIU!!! Go MAC!!!

Seems like NIU and the MAC bested your terps last night......
and as for your list of coaches:
The MAC (and my team, Miami ) have had better coaches than your list....
Miami: Cradle of coaches.....Woody, Bo Schembechler, Ara Parseghian, Paul Brown, Weeb Ewbank, Sid Gillman, John Pont, Carmen Cozza, Bill Mallory, Dick Crum...and now Joe Novak....the list goes on and on and on and on......
So, me thinks it's bout time you respect the MAC and our traditions.........we may not have won as many titles or be as prominent in the spotlight as the ACC, but, we sure as hell can play with the big boys.

Yeah right, we'll pound em even if we play like turds.
You were saying?......
Ok anyways...what a game last night! I must say though our team looked good. Especially our defense, they were able to pretty much stop Turner. I think that game would have been ours though in a big way if Maryland hadn't made so many careless mistakes.
Congratulations on a wonderful loss, Twerps. I say this just to the disrespecting parties of this board - which seems to be most of you.
Your D-Coordinator (Blackney) was head coach for the Bowling Green State Unviersity (A MAC SCHOOL) for 9 years prior to moving to UMD (he was fired). I like him. Good guy. Excellent defensive mind. Not a great head coach, unfortunately.
Have a little respect for your own coaches.
Wow...Terpy has disappeared!!
That was a real shocker, but not really...I was impressed with NIU when they beat Wake in that shootout last year, but I really didn't expect Maryland to look that bad...
This should be a REAL eye-opener, hopefully especially for my 'Cocks who battle UL-Laf. tomorrow...
I don't know about Fridge, but I know Lou won't let anyone sneak up on us, esp. after last season!...
I'm shocked really. I didnt get to see the game. I hope these slow starts dont be come a referring theme with Maryland or else it will someday keep us out of the National Championship game like it did to Colorado a couple years ago. The College football season is so short that it is better to lose early but to play for a national Championship you really cant lose at all. I wish NIU the best of luck for the rest of the season, not only for you guys but the more you win the less this loss will hurt the terps.
Perhaps we were looking ahead to FSU. Whatever happened it is much better to lose now than in November.
l-m-a-o       Your ranking just went down the crapper!
yeah congrats guys...congrats on losing to a "Mid-Major"
Enjoy it, NIU deserved it. They wanted it more.
But at the end of the year, it will mean nothing.
Your ranking just went down the crapper!
Oh jeez, not my ranking! Anything but that!
I guess losing to a MAC team will do that to a ranking. Even playing one seems to have that effect.
See ya later :wave
any got any bug spray...we have a MAC infestation here...
27 - tWerps 24
Yeah, that'll happen. When hell freezes over.

Terpy...
You are correct, that in College Football...it is better
to lose early, rather than late.
However, that is where the OOC schedule comes
into play.
If UMD was to win out...it would be deadlocked
with 5 or 6 other 1 loss teams. When your OOC
schedule is dotted with The Citadel, E Mich, even NIU,
you will never garner enough points to top the other
1 loss teams.
UMD's National Title hopes are over!
UMD's National Title hopes are over!
yours wont last that long either..don't worry...

It's Lasted longer than yours...
Plus with our OOC schedule...we can afford to lose one!
For all you NCAABBS NOOBIEBOOBIES - BUMP
I was fan of the game for this game. I got 52 free value meals at Culver's and 52 free sundaes. It was the greatest college football game I've ever seen.
PS - I'm special.
