No, it doesn't involve rock-throwing zombie gangsters in a park, but I did check the MPD crime tracker website, and there was a forcible rape reported in the Overton Square neighborhood, on North Rembert (although I don't know where this girl lives) on Sunday.

Common sense rule #1: Never leave your drink unattended!

A lot of people who may not go out to bars often may do so this weekend b/c of BBQ Fest, so pass the word, and not just for Midtowners; this kind of stuff happens all the time...

Subject: Midtown Rapist - Please be aware!

I'm writing to let you know of a predator on the loose...

A friend of mine was raped in her home in Midtown on Saturday night. She works at a restaurant in the Overton Square area, where police believe she was slipped some type of drug. She remembers going home and saying hello to her neighbors at around 1:00 am. Around 4:00 am, she woke up, found herself undressed and a strange man in her apartment. When she screamed, he pulled his pants up and ran off.

When warning her co-workers on Sunday, she learned that two other restaurant employees, both working in the Cooper-Young area, had experienced similar assaults in the past month. But they never saw their assailant.

It is possible that because my friend was larger than the other two, that the drugs wore off earlier than the attacker was accustomed to.

This guy's M.O. so far is to find his victim in a restaurant or bar, slip them something, and then follow them home. He wears food preparation gloves, one of which he left at the scene Saturday.

Please tell your friends, sisters and daughters to be on the lookout! And if you are in a bar or restaurant, never leave your drink unattended!

Here is the description of the man that was given to the police:

* White Male
* Age Approximately 30-35
* No facial hair
* Long, straight, dark hair reaching to at least his shoulders
* Medium, muscular build
* 5'10" or shorter
* No distinguishing marks or tattoos

Obviously, the most distinguishing feature is his hair, which might have been cut by now.

My friend has been visiting Midtown restaurants to pass along this info., but feel free to pass it on as well. They have a DNA sample on this guy, so we want him identified and locked up!

Thanks for your help, and be alert!
I received this same email.
of course, I'm racking my brain for all the long haired guys I know who fit that description....and there are quite a few. lol

hopefully this guy's just stupid enough to try it again so he can get caught.
Is there anyway we could find out which restaurant this happened at?

I don't know if you called the West Precinct if they could give you some more info or not....it really wouldn't surprise me if it were the Blue Monkey or Side Street, though.

No matter where it happened at doesn't matter. In my opinon, rape is the most disgusting crime ever.

I was just wondering because I have several friends who work at restaurants in Overton Square and have many more that frequent restaurants in that area. Although not the two bars mentioned by tigergreen. I'll definitely be on the lookout though for this guy when I'm at a bar in that area. I would agree with you about rape though, uofmcamaro.

the only reason why i would lean more toward those two being possible locations is just the setup of those two....side street & the blue monkey are more of a "bar" crowd than pizza cafe, bayou, garcia wells, le chardonnay, bosco's, etc. i wouldn't think it would be as easy to slip something in a drink when you're sitting at a table in the restaurant...unless, and heaven forbid this be the case, he works at one of these places.... 04-jawdrop

if you've got friends who work in overton square, i'd be surprised if they haven't already heard about it....i'll bet this news traveled fast.
I talked to one of my friends who frequents the midtown area and she told me a little bit more about what happened. She said the bar where this girl got drugged at was that new place Garcia Wells Southwestern Grill (where TGI Friday's used to be). Just thought I'd let y'all know. Pretty much be on the lookout everywhere in this area because this creep is still out there.

thanks for the info.....you know, i wasn't all that impressed by garcia wells when i went, and now i'm REALLY not.

you know, the fact that this happened at a true restaurant vs. bar, and a new one at that, makes me wonder if their new staff shouldn't be checked out a little more.
