I agree (although I do like the bouncing boobs) and would hate to lose all the varied perspectives that are represented on this board because of testosterone overload.

There's also something called 'standards'. I agree with MissJ. If the community standard is going to permanently sink to the current level or lower, the exodus will continue. Yea, I think it is the popular minority forcing there ideals on the majority. But hey, if homey's girl wants them gone, let'em be gone. Not like anyone can reasonably object. This is only an issue because a couple of people want to make it one. This site is not "going to hell in a hand basket" because pimp, fsquid, or anyone posts some bouncing girls. Well doesn't matter anyway, the censors usually get their way I guess.

Oh please! This place is about as sterile as it has ever been. I mean, there used to be all kinds of nasty animal sex photos posted and links to even worse. Does this offend some people, probably but part of the reason we ended up with our own board was so we could police it as we see fit. If you don't like someone's posts, use the filter. Oh my goodness. A mature poster that makes perfect sense. Too bad that the real problem is a few that don't want to bother with the filter want to just force their views and ideas for "what is decent" on others. A more rigid stance of what is acceptable and what is not may be needed. And it's just not the bouncing boobs. However, that being said, how do we please eveyone? We can't. Some will see our stance as too rigid, and leave, some will see our stance as too lax, and leave.
I'm not saying what missj says is right, but I'm also not saying what missj says is wrong either.
What I do know is this, everyone here, visitors included, should do everything they can to make this board the best it can be.
Use common sense, if you had a child ask yourself these questions: Would you want your child to see certain images, if the answer is no, don't post them. If you wouldn't want your child to read certain statements or exclamations, don't make them. Pretty simple really. People need to police themselves first.

Loyal, the problem I see with this is that yes, that is their job BUT my heavens...lately they would be "BABYSITTING" non-stop 24-7 to keep it clean. To me, that's not fair to the mods. They do have families/jobs/lives. I'm still waiting on an answer to my question of why can't all the "questionable" stuff just be posted on the "Babes of the Day" forum ?

there is also an option in your control panel to disable signatures. I used this option when I was in a cubical.

You would think so, but this new board software doesn't not allow mods to edit signatures and avatars like the old software did. Simply put, mods don't have the capability to do what you ask without taking the more extreme measure of either deleting the post or splitting the post off to the another board (not as easy as it sounds).
Sometimes we are restricted more by the software than we are by our morals.
I believe Admins do have this capability, but as missj said, we cannot expect SCC to be here 24/7.
I also believe some lines have been crossed in this area. Certain posters deliberately push the avator and signature envelope with their pics. They know EXACTLY what they are doing and enjoy doing it. Other posters cruise this board for the sole purpose of protesting or arguing over this dreaded censorship issue.

Since there seems to be minimal control, then I could use an avator that might be:
- considered racially inflammatory by some.
- absolutely gross, bloody, or revolting.
- deemed unduly or overtly sexist.
- crude or obscene.

But I actually try to remember the theme of this message board. It is, first and foremost, a SPORTS MESSAGE BOARD. It is NOT a porn site, or a religious site, or a political site, or anything OTHER than a MEMPHIS TIGERS sports board.
So I try to stay within the theme of the board and not be borderline offensive to anyone. At least with my avator. LOL! I'm sure some of my posts have bothered some fellow posters.
But the bottom line is there IS a filter to remove signatures and avators while one persues this board.
My advice would be to use it 100% and just read the posts.

What you are saying makes sense, Derby. But like any mixed group of individuals, not all of us have kids or even care what kids may think about what they say or put in there messages.
I think the best medicine for this problem is
peer pressure. If you don't like the sexist images or comments, don't be afraid to let the author know about it. Enlist others to do the same. Sooner or later they will either leave the board or change their ways. Of course, many will just relish in the fact they are getting under you skin, too!!

This is a tough issue.
We should be able to police ourselves. Having had the objections expressed is a good thing. People need to be reminded that the envelope has been pushed too far around here by some. We need to be reminded of the participation of the women in this forum and their concerns. Others have work and children issues.
I agree that the board will lose character if we try too hard to sterilize it. If you have work issues, it would make sense to turn off signatures. If you choose to post a pic, consider it carefully before you do. Let's try to keep it classy, and remember that there are women and children present.

I always thought that if you didn't like something or someone you went to your control panel and blocked it. Whether a sig or a avatar or a member that bugs you, just put them on ignore. Saying the board is worse than it used to be is also a complete crock. It used to be no holds barred when it came to posting pics. Not only that but people would take people's personal pics and doctor them and then repost them. We all grew up and cut that out. The only thing I have seen on here in a while that was vulgar/questionable was supposedly by accident when the guy posted the pic of a parrot on a guy's dong. Now that was pretty bad. lol

The issue has been raised and I belive that you will see a more thoughtful approach to what people post (for awhile). Please don't overreact, give it some time. No taking down Bart is not enough. You just don't get it. The point was were does it stop. USE THE TOOLS GIVEN TO IGNORE IF YOU ARE OFFENDED. That doesn't stop you from communicating on the board. I thought this board was fun and as someone else said has a lot of character. Get a couple of holy rollers on a crusade to try and educate the populous on what is right and wrong and we end up all being right and all being wrong. The truth is in the eyes of the beholder. Personally, I think less people are leaving for the boob sigs than there are leaving for all the constant bible thumping "holy" attitudes about every petty subject that comes up. If you don't have the same opinion as the little clics here, then you are labeled a moron or worse.
Anyway, I'm still trying to get all this straight. So it's wrong to have a bouncing breasted FULLY CLOTHED woman in your sig but not a bart simpson pulling down his pants mooning us. I mean seriously people...WHO FREAKIN CARES!!! Use the ignore button. JMHO

I am enjoying the sidelines for this debate but I must point out that folks could just as easily say I am going to have this picture in my sig and if you do not like it block me now. It is an interesting debate you guys are having. I will go back to my corner now since for once (it seems) I am not involved
The difference is , once told it offended and was not taken as funny, it ended, even thought it was funny to some.

It wasn't even that one that exploded the whole thing. It was one with JT as a member of the village People on the cover of Rolling Stone. Just being linked to those pillow biters wreaked all kinds of havoc. lol
