Each and every player came out completely unfocused today. Silly turnovers.... poor use of timeouts when the Longorns were making a huge run... NOT benching players taking 25 foot jump shots from the basket. Ridiculous.
Yes, Cal is human, too and makes mistakes just like the rest of us. Unfortunately, our league is so terrible, any blown opportunity against a quality opponent like Texas is a huge blow to our resume.
If we win out now, we're probably a 2 seed. But... you can't get too upset with our guys. They've played waaaaay over their heads throughout the season.
It was a great run while it lasted. I enjoyed it. Hope you did, too.

thats strange, i dont remember seeing cal on the court playing.
Too early to get so pissed off. When you live by the three you also can die by the three. Not a good day for us at all. UT and Duke beat this team by how many points? Biggest letdown is that our seed is dropping bigtime.
I don't think it's all on Cal, everyone played sloppy, but Aldridge had 4 fouls before the 8 minute mark and we didn't exploit that until 2:12.

the run isn't over...we still have 25 or so games left
Another day like today in either tourney and that number will be much less.
SigEpMike Wrote:the run isn't over...we still have 25 or so games left
Sorry. I meant our run towards the # 1 ranking. That one is over, now. But we can still get back in the top 5 if the cards fall our way

If we ever have a losing season, I don't want to be near Greekwolf. 11-2 and the run is over?
This loss is on our players refusal to attack the rim like during the first half against Gonzaga.
We decided to once again jack up the 3's and this time we didn't change.
Oh well we just laid a freaking egg. It happens.
this game is not on cal greekwolf you freaking moron...this was bound to happen and i'm glad we lost because we needed to lose a game were too young to go undefeated the rest of the way...the tigers need to lose and learn from the loss...were going to be ok folks this team is good
thats strange, i dont remember seeing cal on the court playing.
Can't blame it all on Cal. We were outcoached, outplayed out hustled today. Texas wanted and needed it more. Like I tell my kids, lets learn from our mistakes and move on.
Go Tigers!

Relax, bad game by everyone against a really good team at full strength with its back up against the wall.
Whoa!
A bad game against a good team with backs to the wall and suddenly Cal made mistakes?
Not going to head there nor panic over one afternoon loss.
Despite playing horribly early our kids made a good run but appeared out of gas and when TX made 13 straight free throws any chance at a comeback down the stretch was gone.
Credit Texas.
Pity MTSU.
Despite the down schedule the rest of the way I expect Memphis to remain in the top ten and creep back up if they keep winning. Right now we should be below Illinois and Florida but we should be ahead of a three loss Gonzaga currently ranked 9th.
Pity Winthrop.

What are you kidding? Dorsey took at least 5 shots inside after he picked up his 4th foul going over the back, Joey made one, and not a single other one was close....or called a foul. He took it straight at him.
WTF greekwolf.
What a pessimistic overreacting piece of sh*t you are.
this loss is on cal and the whole team. totally unfocused, but what do you expect when we sleepwalk through lesser games like purdue? that's why you play your guts out every game...when you don't, you get humiliated like we did today. totally inexcusable. killer instinct is not something you just turn on...you have to practice it and hone it...that's why we need to beat lesser teams by 40+. we dick around with them, and we get the mentality that we can dick around with better talent. these guys just looked like a bunch of sissies today. carney is the only redeeming thing about today, but even he was too scared to drive the lane like he should. he needs to let the marbles drop and own the lane. hopefully some good will come of this...mainly, cal will stop being satisfied with 20 minutes of effort per game.
ok, now the turning point of the game came down to two moments...washington hopping down the court pounding his chest and looking like an idiot while daniels ran past him and got the 3 point play, and shawne williams overplaying the texas ghost gorilla on the inbounds play. and again, we missed too many free throws. it's called a backboard guys. if you can't make your free throws the pretty way, use the *#@! backboard. again, a really pathetic showing by the tigers today. perhaps this game has lit the fire that needed to be lit...time will tell.

We'll be 7th at worst. Keep winning and we'll steadily move up again.
The only way this loss is on Cal is if you blame him for the fact that we don't have a point guard.

Another keyboard commando. All big and bad at your computer, but you wouldn't have the balls to say that to my face. Silly Noob. lol
And if you had bothered to read my entire post instead of just the thread title, you would have noticed that I'm not down on the season, or the players. Just disappointed that we blew an opportunity against a quality opponent.
This is the kind of game Texas needed to win.Slow grinding type of ball game.
no, it's not on Cal, it's on players like Carney who'd rather jack up a 3 than take it to the hole. I don't know how many shots Carney took today, but I can remember the three or four times that he took it to the hole and good things happened when he did. Sure he hit a couple of threes, but that doesn't justify jacking up so many of them.
The 3 point shot is a love/hate relationship with me, in a risk/reward scenario, shooting 30-35% on average (national) is not a good thing especially by the point in the game when you are 5-25. It's not working, let's do something else.
We'll do fine the rest of the regular season, we might stumble up once or twice on the road, but when we get in the tourney we are gonna be hurt against anyone with a half-*** big man, because we have NO inside game.

We have a very good team... and I said absolutely nothing about giving up on the season. Just disappointed in the loss. Or can someone of your obviously limited intelligence comprehend that?

we'll be 10th at best. there are too many undefeated teams that media folks have been dying to rank ahead of us.

The same thing was going to happen when we played Gonzaga but we started going hard the basket in the second half and won.Why didn't we do the same tonight?
I'd happily say it to your face, you piece of sh*t. Your post was completely moronic as evidenced by the huge number of posts saying as such.
Now shut the F up before I show up at your door and shove your head even further up your @ss.

Why does it always have to come down to picking one person or reason to blame? We got our asses handed to us in almost all aspects of the game in preparation, execution, accuracy and mental toughness. This was a game that we could have won and we didn't.
We could say that about every loss.....get over it and move on.
No rhythm, very poor shot selection. Better we get the wake up call against a Top 20 opponent, than against MTSU, Winthrop or (God forbid) UT. This loss definitely could be worse. Time to regroup and win the next 17. Never give up; Never surrender! Go Tigers!!!

The definition of a miserable.
Our kids were not good enough to decimate all these good teams.
They were good enough to beat them all, but were not good enough this afternoon.
To require perfection from a team that plays 5 freshman in significant roles being led by an injured sophomore point guard is quite a bit.
Credit Texas for being gutty down the stretch.
Our kids played at times as though my goodness if they did not win some "fans" would jump all over them.
They were right.

Yep, and you know why? If I read a post that I don't agree with, I simply move on. I don't feel the need to call them "idiot", "moron" or "***."
But people like you think you're Billy Bad *** by calling someone out just because you don't like what they have to say. Tough tits. You don't like it... don't read it. If you insult me.. then you're gonna get that sh!t put right back in your face. Capice'

I can't blame anyone but the players, however this was a good loss for the young guys. I wouldn't be to hard on them remember that they are YOUNG AND LEARNING and they will learn from this one.Normally the 3 would fall it didn't happen today7 out of 32. We will bounce back in a big way. GO TIGERS

I know right after the 4th foul was called on Aldridge we went right back at him with Dorsey, but after that we played sloppy inside and went more towards Buckman. I wanted Carney to be the one to take it to him.

In my experience, people who've actually graduated from high school have the maturity level to browse a message board, read posts and respond accordingly without resorting to insults.
Obviously, you're still a teenager. In which case, don't worry about it. You still have a lot of growing up to do. It's cool.

that's the problem, at times they played the way they are capable of, not the entire time. that's called half assing it...but today's world seems to be comfortable with half assed efforts from every sector.

Well, Cal deserves some of the blame if he gets the credit when they win. I think Cal was slow to call a t/o in the first half. Down the stretch, our players failed to compete. At the under 8 minute timeout I thought the game was ours, but we got out hustled, out rebounded, outplayed and out coached. Perhaps Cal should worry more about the players and less about the fans. The crowd was great. That said, all is not lost, tomorrows a new day. Hopefully Cal can get the teams attention now.
