From the Div. 1 college basketball coaches summit............

"Coach Roy Williams participated in the summit and, in an interview, made the following commments about cheating and athletics:

Williams: The biggest thing after we got there was the idea of more cooperation with the NCAA in trying to be a partner and I personally like the idea of policing ourselves a bit more and having a better idea of what we should do as coaches and making sure we encourage our fellow coaches to do what’s right.

Q: Would you turn somebody in if you knew they were cheating?

Williams: Yes.

Q: Have you done it?

Williams: Yes, I’ve done it more than once and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again today.

Q: How many coaches are like you?

Williams: There are some. Not as much as I’d like. I was treated very badly because one of them became somewhat public, but I’d do it again today. "

I guess we're finding out that Ol' Roy talks out both sides of his mouth. What he's doing with Padgett may not be officially cheating but it sure borders being unethical as hell.

Whatever it takes to win.

When Padgett was being recruited as a high school senior by both UNC and Kansas (before Roy left) he complained about the way UNC was recruiting him.

"If you remember, Roy recruited against UNC for Padgett's services two years ago before he left town. It's not like Williams ever quit recruiting Padgett, even when he was an incoming freshman at KU. Kansas filed a complaint back in April of 2003 after Williams made the following remarks publicly concerning Padgett:"I don't think it's fair to David Padgett to be stuck out there now and yet, in that national letter of intent that they do have to sign, they put in bolt print, `You are signing with the school, not the coach,' " Williams told ESPN . "But that doesn't make it right." Williams also said he thought there should be "a window of opportunity" for Padgett to seek his release from Kansas.Although Roy's actions aren't against NCAA rules, they certainly go against an unwritten code of honor among coaches and are borderline unethical."

He shouldn't be trying to bring players with him from Kansas.
