YEAAH!
Get those airline tickets. We need a sea of BLUE!
I know who Weincurry will be pulling for.
Think Depaul would let us borrow Seals to help us "Crush the Cocks?"

 :D

I work with a gamecock, have been to games in ColDumpbia, and you wouldn't believe how arrogant these fans are.

It'll be nice to hand them their asses and move on. They do have a good team, but Cal will be ready for them. :chair: :chair: :chair: :chair:

These are the same fans who claimed that the Gamecocks would "easily" go undefeated every year in Conference USA. I wouldn't have believed such stupidity existed, if I hadn't read the thread on their board, myself.

They played Danny Fortson's Cincy team in Columbia, and managed to pull a stunning upset. I remember watching that game. Since that time, they've based that one game as "proof" of their superiority to anyone in CUSA. What a joke.
We actually beat Cincy twice. Beat them in Cola the very next year. Some of you older Tigers should remember us from the old Metro Conference days.

I remember you well....we are 17-5 against South Carolina. At home 8-1, neutral site 5-0, and on the road 4-4. 03-nutkick

I think the last time we played the Cocks was in the NIT, two years ago, there were a couple of posters that got everybody started. I recall that there was a joke made about Strom Thurman, by a Tiger, on the Digital Roost Board and all hell broke loose. Flames were shooting every which way. I think we can do it better this time around - everybody willing -
I am always up to puttin' a whooping on an SEC team! 04-rock 04-drinky
that old a$$ racist prick is dead now. thank god.

Amen to that. :thumb:

Good luck, y'all... kick some a$$!

why are you even going to say sh** like that? you need to freakin mature and not be thankful a great senate died.
One of those wins was a regional game in Houston in 1973 as the Tigers crushed USC and Kansas State on their way to St. Louis and the Final Four. Finch and Kenon tore both teams a "new one" in what has to be the best two games back to back in the history of this program.

A GREAT SENATOR?!?! That prick was for segregation when he ran for whatever the hell that was may years ago. I hated his a$$ while I lived in SC, and I still hate his a$$.
what the hell dude, you know all hell is about to break here when you call our senator a prick and is thankful that the longest serving senator has died
Please do not judge all Gamecock fans by a few who cannot behave. Every team has those who like to ruffle a few feathers..no pun intended..I think it will be a great game and I for one am just glad to make the dance after they predicted USC would be on the bottom of the sec.
I just hope for a well played game, no injuries and that the players all enjoy themselves on both sides. It took work to make the NCAA tourney and both teams deserve it and I hope the best for both teams. Of course I would love for the cocks to win but if we dont we have had one heck of a season and one to be proud of considering our youth.
Come on over to the gamecock forum *digital perch* and chat awhile..As long as you are respectful you are more than welcome to come join us. I would think the same would apply here 04-cheers
Have a great season and may both teams do us proud no matter the outcome!
one thing to remember about Strom. He was raised in a time where it was considered fine to be like he was. I know it is not an excuse but I do believe that he tried to change and now it is between him and his maker. No need to bash someone who is long gone. Sometimes we make comments and so things that maybe we will regret in later life. I know I have..but anyways my motto is treat others as you would like to be treated and its all cool!

I lived in SC for 7 years while he was alive. he was MY senator also. and i HATED him.
thats fine dude, not saying you can't hate someone but you do need to be careful of saying other things that could really tick people off, expectally in a public form which alot of gamecock fans now reading it.
Arrogant? I've never heard anyone outside of the bubble you live in call us arrogant. Strom Thurmond won't be on the court when we play, so I don't see any reason to worry about him. We could probably use him in the low post to grab a couple rebounds against yall but he finally croaked. As long as we're the 10 seed and you're the 7, I think we're in pretty good position. Dewan Wagner isn't at Memphis any more so, I think we will have a pretty good game. The underdog role is something that Dave will use to his advantage...but however it works out the winner gets OKst, not an easy draw for any team. I see UCon winning it all this year anyways, but I'd be nice to upset atleast one team. Sorry if my post was too arrogant, maybe its the water I drank this morning  04-cheers
Who once called me and my neighbors "White devils?" Oh, that's right. Our very own fine Congressman from Memphis. Lighten up on Strom.... At least he was born during a time when that type of culture was visible throughout the South. Ford's comments were more closely in tune with the 90's.... SCARY!!!!!!!!

That's alright, we have trouble against all 'stiffs' when it comes to rebounds at the center position. Ask St. Louis - 03-wink
Mysticmike01, if you can read and can open up your mind enough to not hate a man you obviously know nothing about consider the following,

Senator Thurmond was the finest senator to ever serve the great state of South Carolina. He dedicated 77 years of his life to public service as a school teacher, athletics coach, lawyer, respected judge, war hero, governor and the oldest and longest serving senator in US history.

Apparently you never spoke to a South Carolinian while you were here because the senator's constituent service is absolutely unparalleled in history. Nearly everyone I know can name instances where the senator came to their families aid in a time of need. Throughout his tenure he routinely wrote letters to grieving widows, congratulations to new parents and newlyweds in all the senator wrote nearly a million letters the South Carolinians while in office. He was also the only senator in US history to be elected as a write in candidate. I believe that Strom rose to the rank of Colonel or 1star General (I

awww..you welcome.

And whoever posted that long thing, it won't change my opinion on the man. soooorrry.

From the Gamecock Joke thread --- just to lighten it up a bit - or not

George W. Bush was having some problems satisfying Laura due to the Iraq crisis, economy, stock market, etc. and decided to visit Strom Thurmond, since Storm is known as quite a ladies man (he married his Beauty Queen wife when she was 16 and he was almost 80).

Hearing George's problem, Strom says, 'Well I tell ya what George. What I do is take my 'thang' and whack it against the bedpost three times: 'whack, whack, whack', then I go over to the nightstand, then again, whack my thang three times: 'whack, whack, whack'. And I tell ya what George, it drives the ladies crazy.

George thanks Strom and heads back to the White House, and Laura's is already in bed. So he follows Strom's instructions, takes his 'thang' and hits it against the bedpost three times: 'whack, whack, whack', then he goes over to the nightstand, then again, three times: 'whack, whack, whack'.

Then Laura leans over and says:

"That you Strom?"
Tigers2B1 funny post. One small correction though the miss sc, nancy thurmond, was 22 and strom was "only" 66.

as to mysticmike01, apparently facts mean very little to you, hopefully one day you'll find a cure for the severe case of rectal cranium inversion that you now suffer. Glad you left the state, one less idiot is always a goog thing.

To the rest of the Memphis fans, I wish you all the best and I hope for a good game, of course ending with a gamecock victory.
Go cocks
Sorry to those who I offended in this thread, but from what I learned about the man when I lived in SC, I've just never liked him. Argument ended.
