it feel good!
In basketball we will consistently top 10 ala St Joe's only we will have better players and play the role that UMass played in the A-10.
It is not going to hurt us basketball wise! It may actually help us!
In football, Marshall, UCF will make up what Louisville and Cincy did. Who knows we may go higher and take the place of TCU!
Where as you guys basketball wise, I wish you do well but the Big East will beat each other all year that any given year any team can win and any team could get left out of the tourney.
Football wise, we are talking about this because of football. That conference is just as good as CUSA will be or maybe is already.
I prefer to completely stop talking about the Big East. If there is a shift I would like to go to Big Ten, Big XII, or SEC.
It is obvious that politics play the biggest part not the actual wins and losses.

How will it feel to be no longer the best team in the league? Lol, don't laugh too long because when that 16 team circle jerk known as the BE implodes and splits in half, we will be back in the same league and our stature in football and hoops will surpass whatever will pass for yours now. Weak smack and you maybe ought to go smack Mr. Ed, like one of your baksetball players did, lol.

Strat I think that Memphis already has a better stature all around than Cinci. I honestly dont know why UC got the invite and not Memphis other than maybe UC is closer, but then why add S. Fla.? S.Fla. recruiting will get better but that wont help other Big East teams. Good recruiters get kids from Fla. Just look at UL and UK, UL was getting as many Fla. kids as UK before S. Fla. joined CUSA, so I think the theory of having a Fla. school in your conference helps recruiting is flawed. I personally am sad that we wont have Memphis as a conference opponent anymore, especially with your football program starting to take off. I think UL and Memphis are at similar crossroads in football and basketball and I wish you luck accept when playing the Cards of course. Hope to see you guys in some OOC games in the future, it has been a great rivalry. Later Tiger fans!

i haven't given up on the Big East yet...i'm hoping they will come to their senses soon and realize they need another football team and having another b-ball power wouldn't hurt.

I agree tigers1, when the Big East splits Memphis or Marshall has to be the team to get the invite. I am hoping that Memphis gets the invite due to our long rivalry. Only way I see Marshall getting the call is if WV wants them due to their location. Anyway good luck this year, hope where both undefeated when we meet, not likely but would be nice.

Actually I'm pretty darned excited about football!
Marshall for Louisville is a pretty fair trade with Marshall probably holding the edge (Marshall has won the last two games against the Cards).
SMU for Cincy is a pretty fair trade, but I do think Cincy has just the slightest edge there. Afterall, Cincy did win a game. But we won't have to hear anymore excuses as to why only 8,000 people showed up for one of the biggest games on Cincy's schedule. What was the reason? Oh, yeah! The game conflicted with the highschool playoff games.

WVU fan here...I just came over to say that I think it would be great if Memphis got invited to join the BE football members in a new league...I know nobody knows for sure what is going to happen but it seems to me a split is inevitable....the whole 16 team BE was formed to make a split easier...it also seems obvious to me that the BE football schools will add a ninth member to balance scheduling (they almost added a football only ninth member this time around)...I think Memphis will get the node because of there bball, the fan base, and the history you enjoy with UC and Louisville...The Tigers joining up sounds like a perfect fit to me

Jackson1011,
Thanks for the post.
And as far as this thread is concerned, don't be deceived. Memphis and Cincy have a long history together. As a matter of fact, Memphis' longest conference mate has been Cincy (yes, it's been thru several different conferences) and Cincy's longest running conference mate is Memphis.
We still like to smack each other around every once in a while.

Hey Hencat, did you go to any UC games last year? because nobody else did. At least Memphis can put a few butts in the stands. So before you go telling me how you guys are better than S. Fla. and Memphis.....prove it by trying to go to a game! 21,000 in the seats is embarrassing dude, for any team.....much less a Big East team.

How does it feel going to a Conference that in a couple of years will
be losing 2 or 3 more members ...UConn & Syracuse according to
the talk in the Washington DC area will be joining the ACC and Pitt
is looking to get out also , possible move to the Big 10 ..

That wont happen ACC will only take 1 more team in any situation and even if they did leave quess which conference goes down next.....YOURS.....lol. Hows it feel to follow in UofL's footsteps! because if there is another breakup, you guys will be crying about how Memphis and ECU left you behind....lol. If it does go down the way you say, then WVU will probably be headed to the SEC also so maybe we will throw you a bone or something! Sorry you started it not me!

True, I didn't start this fight you did. When is the last time you guys one a real bowl? Thats right you haven't. UofL is the last "mid-major" to win a major bowl. 1990 Fiesta....baby. Also how many national champship basketball teams have you had in last 50 years? So before you respond, I actually respect Marshall's football team and hope they do well. Also how about supporting UofL, UC, and S. Fla. Everyone knows that the BCS is about money and not teams. We know Memphis and Marshall are better than Temple, Baylor, etc.,etc. So if we do fall on our faces, then the BCS big shots are all going to be running around saying "I told you so", "mid-majors cant compete, even when you do put them in a BCS conference". Believe me I know it sounds crazy, but we all need UofL, UC, and S. Fla. to be at least respectable in the Big East!

Get em UC. I disagree with you though. I think the Cards and the Bearcats will start at the top of the Big East. SU and UConn are better than anybody in currrent CUSA but Cinci. and UofL have had tough OOC schedules in basketball for years and are still able to make the tournament. We will know more next year, but I bet we give the Big East a run in basketball straight out of the gate.

You stated in previous post that UC might have to wait a couple of seasons and that you where willing to sacifice a couple of basketball seasons. My point was I think Cinci. will start out as one of the top programs in Big East basketball. I hate to be a UC fan because besides UK you guys are probably our biggest rivalry and then maybe Memphis. I have to admit though, Huggins is a great coach as much as I like to dislike him....lol. I honestly think UofL and Cinci both will spend their first Big East year in the tournment. I also think if Petrino doesn't bail on our football program that UofL will make serious noise in football in 2005. I hope your new coach works out and that our rivalry stays as heated in the future as it has in the past......by the way the Keg of nails is staying here this year....lol. Later Bearcat!

How ironic is it for Memphis fans to be banging on our attendance and then rave about Central Florida! LOL! And weren't Memphis fans complaining about scheduling to get fans to the Memphis basketball games?
By the way Memphis fans, what does it say about your basketball program when it consistently finished behind UC in C-USA and then you say that UC will finish in the middle of bottom of the Big East. If that's the case then that means you would just finish right beneath us right? Same goes for football, one winning year and you think you have a bad a$$ football program.

How the hell is that going to happen!? First of all, you're a liar about Washington DC saying that UConn and Syracuse joining the ACC. The ACC is having trouble supporting the 12 teams they have, at least projections wise. They'll make a profit but no where NEAR what they thought they would make. That was printed in an article from ACC territory just last month! So why would they expand to 14? The Big Ten went on record saying they didnt' want to expand to 12. And if they did numerous Big Ten officials said they didnt' want Pitt because they already have Penn State and the market isn't big enough to justify adding 2 teams. Why would they leave when they have BCS status in the Big East? But a memo was sent out back in October telling all the schools in collegiate athletics that the Big Ten wouldn't expand because it would take away money not give them money so nice try!
As for Memphis having more stature then UC, wrong. UC's football program has had more recent success and have upgraded their facilities so facilities isn't an issue. And basketball is better.

What excuse is funnier, ripping UC for using high school football for attendance problems, or using geography as an excuse to join a BCS conference when a Florida school is invited instead of admitting the Big East never wanted you?
