I've seen this statement too much from ETSU posters. There's a 0% chance of this happening. Last season was the worst in years for the A-Sun, and we didn't even get a 16 seed. I'm starting to think that some ETSU posters would enjoy seeing the ASUN in the play-in game though. If ETSU kept up their winning ways here they would probably get a 14 or 13 seed. If they would have beat Tennessee and hit the 20 win mark? Then who knows.
Let me be the first to say that there is NO WAY that the ASUN will be in the play in game. The only way this would be possible, is if a team like Stetson went on a run and won the ASUN Tournament. I think Belmont could get a 14 seed, but I think if ETSU or Lipscomb wins, we might be looking at a 15 seed. Anyone else might get a 16.
These people that say this are the people who just want things to be bad so they'll have a reason to moan and complain. They don't see that yea, in 2003-2004 we hit the low point of our existence, and now we're building back up a little bit. Mens and women's golf, mens and women's tennis, and baseball had great years last year, this year the four CC sports are on track again, men's and women's basketball are doing well, volleyball had its' best season in YEARS, there's a plan in place to keep the budget for our current sports plus add extra money to play REAL football, yet we have three or four vocal minority idiots who don't see what is going on, even our radio/tv people have their act together and we're seeing things that couldn't have happened three/four years ago.

As for basketball, as long as one of the top three teams win it, I think a 14 seed is about where we'll land. Alot will depend on what they do with Davidson and Winthrop, who are both having incredible seasons.
You guys are exactly right. It's also not fair to generalize ETSU fans like I do a lot, as most of you are happy to be having a good season. (even though you're not thrilled with your situation....which I understand) Just like you said lover, if your team continues to have good seasons then your program will improve. It seems your goal is getting out of the ASUN, and the only way to get that is winning 18,20,22 games consistently. It's also interesting to note how bad the Big South is, where you guys could move to.
a-sun will not be in the playin game. Not all ETSU posters are bad, actually 90 percent of them are good, just a few keep moaning and complaining, they continue to downtalk and look down on the rest of the a-sun and that pisses me off.

i really think the a-sun could be a good conference in a year or two. KSU is going to keep getting better, JU is improving a lot, CU has the potential to be a very good team, mercer, who i thought would be a really bad team this year, is a lot stronger then i thought, add in ETSU Belmont and Lipscomb, and its a pretty good conference. Just got to be patient. Every conference has off seasons.
History tends to repeat itself sometimes. The critics on the board are still making plans for the play in game (just like last year). I will gladly write a full apology to the board if I'm wrong -- but the ASun rep will not be in the play in game. We were worse off last year and got a 15 seed.
the only way somebody is going to be in the play-in game in our conference is if they are at .500 or one game above. this would not happen to etsu, lipscomb, or belmont. if mercer struggles and campbell does the rest of the year but get hot for 3 days then they would have a chance to play in that game. every year though somebody wins a smaller conference with a below .500 record. upsets happen. they get put in that game, normally against a team from one of the two historically black leagues. i remember mercer beating the heck out of asheville one year and them struggling, but they got hot in the conf. tourney and ended up below .500 and played in the play-in game. that is the only way it will happen. so even if mercer or campbell are right at .500, there is a chance that a team from another conference will get in with an even worse record and play in that game.
People can predict what they want. The media put Lipscomb in it last year. I still stand by my thought.

If it does happen though, at least someone gets a chance to buy a cheap "NCAA Tournament win" banner :shhh:
well every prediction has belmont as the 15th seed, and they were the runner up in the regular season. if etsu won out, they prob would of been a 14th seed.

like mercerfan said, no way in hell we'll be the playin game
