So I'm looking at the poll- how many games will the Bucs win?
A whopping 16 votes so far . . .
AND 13 OF 'EM SAY 14 GAMES OR MORE?
If you want to talk about cockeyed optimism . . .
Pitt,
I believe the reason for the optimism (14 games or more) is that ETSU will play a minimum of 30 regular season games, 1 preseason game, and at least 1 tourney game.
The 14 win season that most are voting for may inculde the wins over Mars Hill, UVa-Wise and (hopefully) Milligan. In reality that is an 11 win season, or 11-17 against D1 competition (if my cyphering is correct). That type of season may not be too far off the mark (pun intended ;-) ).
The Bucs have two D1 wins, I belive they will win against UNCA, possibly Radford, leaving 7-8 wins to come from the 18 game conference schedule.
With that in mind, an 11 D1 win and 14 total win season is possible.
Mars Hill isn't part of our 30 game schedule it was a exhibition game.
Fine.
Then tell me how nearly 50% (seven of 16) have selected 17 or more wins for the Bucs?
This is typical cockeyed optimism and a total lack of realism that kills ETSU.
We talk about reviving football with no place to play and with the athletic director and college President who killed it.
We could "Win the Right Way" and that would be to put some pressure on these two and hold them up to their actions- but, hey, that would be mean.
So we can't do that.
We play some soft teams OOC and play in a very soft conference. IF we were in the Southern I would say wouldn't win 10. in A-Sun 14-17, sure.

Just thought this would be fun to point out that Pitt thought 14 games were out of reach. I guess his crystal ball was cloudy that day.
At the time ETSU was 2-4, with the wins being a one point win on a miracle shot in overtime to beat a mediocre Chattanooga team and another against winless Southern.
I underestimated the weakness of the A-Sun Conference. My bad.
