glancing at your board it looks like you guys really feel the game was stolen from you. I see a lot of complaining but few specifics. Start a list?
35 to 17 FT's
That doesn't even account for the no calls and "oh we missed that" crap. Even one of your own said we got hosed.
To begin with, FT's...

Charlotte: 35
Us: 15

Somebody else take over......I'm sick to my stomach...
How about countless blatant push offs underneath. Endless over the backs on rebounds. Reach ins. elbows thrown at us and technicals taken off the board. They missed some calls on us too but we got JOBBED!

How 'bout I burn it on DVD & mail it to you. You can watch & decide for yourself. Or, just ask your friend mbcard who happened to be in Memphis tonight & watched in on local TV. Even he posted saying he couldn't believe the screw job.
What was the difference in total fouls called?
*35-15 free throws
*hit a 3 at the buzzer of the shot clock and they call it off
*washington got shoved out of bounds by a defender 2-3 times; rather than a foul, they call a TO on us.
* we dribble the ball 1 foot from the o/b line and they call it out.
* apparently withers doesn't foul
* they called a T on lutz then took it away
* on one end it was a free-for-all; on the other you were called for a foul if you took a deep breath (refer to 35-15)

* others feel free to add. 03-pissed

Two handed pushed uncalled on rebounds.

Our player blatently pushed out of bounds and uncc gets the ball......they show the replay and he did not even go out of bounds.

Have you ever seen WWF where the bad guys' friend is the ref?
In addition to that, one of those wussies threw an elbow IN THE MIDDLE OF A TIMEOUT!!!

Now let me ask you... would that be considered a technical foul on the planet Mars, because apparently it's not one here on Earth.
How about the technical on Lutz, that was kind of waved off.

This was the worst officiated game I've ever seen.
:chair: Darius Washington getting called for dribbling the ball out of bounds after getting smashed in the face--and the ball never went out. :chair:
The worst call of the night was at 30 sec. before halftime and Wash is chest bumped by Char. at the 3 pt. line and he almost falls down but recovers. No foul called. But the dumba$$ ref, who is right on top of him, says he dribbled the ball out of bounds. It wasn't even close. The replay shows the ball a good 1-2 feet in bounds. I mean it was clearly in bounds. And on the replay you can see that the ref NEVER even lookded down at the ball. He just blows the whistle and points the other way. And then of course Char. hits a 3 after getting the ball back.

That was one of the worst calls I've seen in all my years of watching ball. The guy never even looked down at he ball, and yet he made the call. SHAMEFUL.
dwash pushed out of bounds twice at mid court with no call and their ball
charlotte player takes 2 swings at 2 different memphis players in a dead ball situation and no technical or ejection
35-15 free throw advantage despite memphis driving the lane
clock not started for a full second on last unc possesion of first half, allowing a three point to count.
carney fouled as he shot a last second 3 point shot to end the game with no call.
charlotte bench out of control all night

despite all that we were 2 missed front ends of 1&1's and 1 lost rebound away from winning.
They called a tech on lucky and then took it back.

UNCCCCC was allowed to play more physical than Crapinnati and every touch foul on earth was called on us.

on and on and on... i have never seen anything like it. I haven't thought that the refs have made any difference in any game for us this season. Tonight, they were the players of the game. Unreal.
Go Tigers!
We got :kobe:!!!
Louisville will destroy this over rated team. Just make sure they don't bring their "house refs".

you're right, i forgot about that. They waved off a T. Damnit, I'm getting mad all over again.
I watched the game and lets just say that if we were in UM's shoes tonight we would be really p***ed off! It was a classic CUSA officiated game.
refs lost control....and they made horrible NON calls as well as calls...

they at one point called the ball OB on darius...he got clobbered near the top of the key and was shoved near the sideline..no foul called...then he got control of the ball about 2 feet from the sideline, RIGHT NEXT to the ref, who suddenly looked down, blew the whistle, and celled that washington dribbled out of bounds...HE WAS TWO FEET INSIDE THE LINE...

then the non-calls...a Charlotte player threw a forearm shiver that didn't get called....
Tigers were up by 10 and cruising with 15 min to go when rodney got tagged with two cheap fouls and had to come out....at that point charlotte began their criminal assualt on our players...a series of non calls while we were on offense and getting killed allowed charlotte to cut it to 4...at that point is when the forearm shiver came...

there were four charges NOT called on charlotte and with only a few minutes to go in the game the refs began calling chippy reach in fouls on the 49ers to try to pad the stat sheet...

darius got killed on two different drives to the hoop....

aw nevermind...i can't go on...THIS WAS A ROBBERY......TOTAL ROBBERY...

WE OUT REBOUNDED THEM 42-31 AND KEPT OUR TURNOVERS LOW AND SHOT 50 PERCENT FOR THE GAME (ROUGHLY) AND THE REFS GAVE THEM THE GAME.....THIS WAS AN HONEST ROBBERY...I DO NOT BLAME REFS TYPICALLY...I DON'T....YOU JUST HAD TO SEE IT...MY GOD...
when level headed guys like matt dillion and hank mcdowell are going off on the officials, you KNOW it was bad.

McDowell was ballistic during the free for all and tech that wasnt. he said it all happened right in front of him
What about the one where the ball went of the charlotte guy's foot right in front of Dwash and the ref gave it to them.

this was the key. Pavlov's 3 at the end of the first half, that should have been waived off due to the illegal screen on Nash, shouldn't have counted. and it came after the blind ref took the last possession of the half away from us. potential 2 points we didn't get (if they had called the foul when Dash got shoved, then we would have had 2 free throws from an 80% shooter to go up by 4 with 30 second left.) Instead, they go up by one.

Take away that 3, and it at least goes to OT.

Send one to the selection committee while you're at it.
What happened with the technical on Pornstache? Did the ref actually T him up and then have a discussion and wave it off? If that was the case and I was coaching the other bench I'd probably have ended up with one of my own.
on the Charlene board, they are implying that instead of a T on pornstache, it was a double technical called. If that's the case, that is worse than waiving off the T on pornstache. the ref called the T at least 20 seconds into the timeout, and when pornstache was all the way across the floor in his face.

not to mention that they took possession at 2.4 seconds. brought the ball down, memphis knocked the ball out of bounds undernieth the basket and only .5 seconds had elapsed. and the shot clock sure looked like it was on zero's when the shot left his hand.

t
He only "suddenly" looked down after the ball was back in DWash's hands. He never saw the ball.
mbcard Wrote:I watched the game and lets just say that if we were in UM's shoes tonight we would be really p***ed off! It was a classic CUSA officiated game.
Sounds like our game at UC 2 years ago.
The ones that got me the most were the tech on Lutz that they took back. All he saw was Dorsey bump their little guy. He missed the little guy throwing two forearms. So did the refs.

DWash was at least 1 foot away from the sideline when the ref called him out of bounds.

What about the intentional grab at the end of the game to keep us from shooting a three. If nothing else its a two shot foul before the shot attempt.

We make the front end of those two one and ones near the end and maybe its a different outcome too.

Bad thing is I never complain about officiating. I believe you never let yourself get in a position where a bad call can decide a game, but how do you overcome this many. Granted, I saw a few in the first half that weren't called on us. Withers got hammered inside on a short shot with no call once.

Also, the foul on Njoya in the first half when he stepped back and Withers fell. It's a foul on us because a guy lost his balance because he didn't have our player to lean on.

I am completely shocked that Cal didn't get ejected for multiple technicals.
now matt and forrest are saying it was a double technical 03-pissed
I can't resist piling on here.

The "out-of-bounds" call ranks in the top five worst calls I have ever seen.

Pushing the top five was the fiasco of clearly giving Lutz a "T", but then no other mention of it after the TO. I guess the ref just figured no one saw it. No harm, no foul. I know our guys did the TV coverage, but the officiating has to be pretty bad when the TV guys are complaining. Gaston and Hank rarely critique the officiating as harshly as they did tonight.

We had our chances and made some mistakes, but we were up against more than Charlotte tonight.
I was there. Just got home.
We got jobbed big time....what a joke.
With 1.9 seconds they throw the ball in and the guy hands it to the shotter who dribbles and then shoots. In 1.9 seconds? No way.
This may have already been said...

...but when the ball-handler gets shoved 3' and out of bounds, causing him to lose the ball (excuse me "cause a turnover")...IT'S A FREAKIN FOUL!...especially when it happens RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE REF. Some of what went on was WAAAAAY beyond hand checking :) .

I have never advocated action against refs before...but these calls were ABOLTUTELY horrendous. The entire officiating crew seriously needs to be handed pink slips.

If there's any Charlotte fans lurking...even you know you didn't earn or deserve that one...you got a freaking gift from the refs, who should at least be on your Christmas card list now. I hope we meet in the CUSA tourney, so we can beat your sorry @sses and prove that your suck-@ss team is just that...a suck-@ss team. You got outplayed tonight and handed a victory on a black-and-white striped platter.

On the TV broadcast, it was crystal clear...the ref was looking directly at Pornstache when he signaled for the "T". Let them spin it how they want.
This just in.....

Basden/Withers 80
Carney/Washington 77

Calipari should have gotten about 80 technicals (sarcastically applauding refs, walking to midcourt to challenge a call during EVERY timeout, calling one officials an F-in loser, etc, etc).

Good luck in C-USA Lite next year. Hope Cal likes historic UCF HS Gym!
This just in...

You've still got to come to Memphis...

Pray you don't play us again....
This just in...

Cal post game comment (to the question of whether he would like to face Charlotte again):

"No way. There are very good. I don't want to see them again unless it is in the championship game"

We just fluked our way to an 11-2 record and only 4 losses this year. Kind of like you fluked your way to 11 losses. Thanks for hurting our 24 RPI with your "NCAA lock" 116 RPI. Hope you don't drag down C-USA Lite next year.

Show a little respect for our program!

What's funny is how you try to make the Land of Dukes, Bonnies, and Spiders sound any better than what Conference USA will be next season.

You were forced out because Conference USA started thinking in terms of football.....so you found a home that's a definite step down from where you are now.....congratu-freaking-lations..

And at best, it's a lateral move from what the conference will be next season.
you could start by showing some respect of your own, on an opponent's board, no less...

but alas, I guess that is beyond a niner fans grasp
Wow, this is sad. You are right, there was a foul by Nance on DWash. It was a bad call.

One of your players all but punched one of our players at half court during a break. A ref was looking right at it. Nance did not retaliate. Sorry, but that should have been a T. That is what got Bobby so fired up in the first place.

You lost, if you really were a superior team, you should have beaten us in spite of the refs. We only shot 61% from the FT line. It's not like we got it done there.
This just in too. Most of the bad calls went to memphis-state's advantage. We attacked thed basket, thus you had more fouls called on you. Have you ever stopped to think that maybe you were simply outcoached?

Whine.... Whine.... Whine.... Whine.... Is there a memphis-state fan that does not whine?

One last note. That is really gonna be helluva conference you'll have next year. Central Fla, Marshall, EZU, Southern Miss, &all the rest of them have been famous for years for their great basketball programs.

Pigs may fly the day that Bobby Lutz can be called a better coach than John Calipari.

You guys did play well tonight. You've got a good team and you'll do well in postseason, just hopefully not better than us. 03-wink

Guys -- let's stop making excuses. Yeah, many things didn't go our way. I would love to change them. However, we can't. Let's worry about helping ourselves, not the referees. Let's go out Saturday and cream Louisville again.

Please do.

Doesn't UL still have DePaul to play too. I hope they lose two games in that stretch.
Yes we could've still won the game despite the refs, but they cost us the game IMO. There's no other way to spin it. I can't remember another game that made me this angry!
