Full Version: Louisville will suck in new Big East

UL and UC fans can party all they want about being included in the new BEC. But they will suffer quickly when they have to swollow blowout losses to UCONN, Syracuse, Pitt, Villanova, Georgetown, Notre Dame, and even Providence. I cannot at all see Ricky accepting the asswhippings they will take in their first year in the BEC. I see him leaving quickly for lesser competiton like UNLV or UCLA. and UL becoming the bottom tier team of the Big East.

Meanwhile, Cal will still get "his" guys to come and the Tigers will be the new Kings of the NCUSA. The competition will be weak compared to the past 10 years or even the 4 years in the Great Midwest conference. That will be a big + for us. That will allow us to get big games for nation tv exposure against teams from BIG 12, BIG 10, SEC, and ACC and BEC to improve our SOS. True, our home attendance will suffer big against teams like Rice, Tulsa, USM, SMU, Marshall, and Tulane. Hopefully UTEP and UAB will be good competition for the Tigers to have for tv games to also help our RPI.

Life will be good for the Tigers and Cal, compared to life in Hell for Ricky P and his Loserville Redbirds.

What's the point of this? To make yourself feel better?

Louisville and Cincy (and USF) are in a much better position than we are (sorry GA), so what good does it do to wish them ill will?

They are where they are, we are where we are....nuff said.

Personally, I think UL and UC will be in the running for the BE title most yrs.......

TigerBlue, your envy is apparent.
Ignore the juvenile. My god some of our fans are embarrassing.

I too don't see the point of this post. Louisville and Cincinnati are two of the top 10 programs in college basketball history. I doubt being a member of the Big East means they will suddenly turn into crap programs, especially with Pitino and Huggins at the helm.
Holds the record on my bozo filter.
I don't know if I would go as far as saying they will compete for the Big East title every year, but they won't be bottom dwellers either.

While I don't think that not being in the Big East is a death knell for our program, I would love to be going with them.

I would rather have seen Syracuse, Pitt, W VA, Rutgers, and U Conn be replacing Depaul, Marquette, St Louis, Army, TCU and whoever we kicked out in a merged confrence, but I won't spend time crying over what could've been.

I like our future, I think we have the ability to win a lot in our new confrence, grow as a program and make put ourself in a position to not be denied next time the dominoes begin to fall.

Well said.

You are just stupid.

We'd be right there with them if we had been invited. So if Louisville and UC will be middle of the road in the BE, where would we have been?

Such fans are an embarrasment.

03-confused

looeyville will be competitive.

Cincy will drop.

usf will be horrible.
UL and Cincy doing poorly in the Big East would be a good thing for us how, exactly?

I want them to go in there, kick ***, invite us in a few years, and have us three all kick the crap out of the rest of one badass conference.
Ul and Cincy will compete very well in The Big East thank you very much. I would like to see Memphis in there too. We have been rivals far too long to just drop it now.

I am concerned that it does not appear our A.D.'s are even talking right now. I would think if Memphis' administration was serious about joining the Big East the telephone lines would be burning up with calls to each other. 03-confused

I know many Ville fans are pissed abour being "held back" for an extra year in C-USA and feel like Memphis was responsible, but I don't think at heart they really want to end the rivalry. Why aren't the A.D.'s talking?

I wholeheartedly agree.

I'd love to see UC and UL first and second (in no particular order) in the BE next season. It might make some commentators realize that the BE isn't all that.

BTW, I hope USF rots at the bottom of the conference for the next twenty years.

You could have left early. You just didn't agree with the conference's price. Should the conference have let you out early without a penalty?

I don't believe that either Jurich or Pitino care for Memphis. If it were up to them, Memphis would NEVER be allowed to join the Big East/EAC. Ever. R.C.'s problem is that he is burning bridges when he should be kissing the rear area of each of the 8 Big East football schools.

Fact or internet speculation?
I guess a little of both.
As has been said a billion times before, if we were in the same situation, we would have jumped too.

Let it go. :bang:

I agree Jurich will hold his grudge against MEMPHIS as long as R.C. is the AD. The TIGERS can't expect any support from Louisville. I think they want to walk away from the relationship after tomorrow for good.

I do not fully agree R.C. should be kissing every @ss in the BEC.

Quote:You could have left early. You just didn't agree with the conference's price. Should the conference have let you out early without a penalty?

Hard to argue this point, UL fans. If Jurich felt Louisville was going to be that good in football in 2004 (which they were), then he should have simply paid the $1,000,000 penalty and left C-USA June 30, 2004 (or whatever date it would be). His decision to stay in C-USA cost UL about $7,000,000 since I fully believe the Cards would have been playing Utah in the Fiesta Bowl.

Reverse everything. If it had been MEMPHIS clammoring for departure a full year earlier than agreed, would not Jurich be well within his rights to demand some type of compensation from MEMPHIS?

I heard that.

I have said this often and will say it again: Louisville and Cincinnati paid their dues over the past 10+ years and earned their place in a BCS conference. I have respect for them, and honestly wish them well in the Big East.

South Florida is the little brother that gets picked last for neighborhood softball only because he rounds out the required number of players. They did absolutely zero on the field at the Division I-A level to earn their invitation. Their entire selling point was their physical location in Florida. It sickens me to this day.

I have zero respect for USF. All they are is one of the leading college campuses for imbedded terrorist cells and some radical faculty members that openly preach the extreme Islam hatred.

I want USF to incur literally millions of dollars in travel expenses for all those minor sports, particularly all the Title IX women's teams. I want those immense expenses to eat up all BCS welfare monies they get and then some. I want them to get the living hell unmercifully and visciously beaten out of them in every game in every sport. I want them to be the passive, trained b!tches of the Big East. I want their retiree-driven fan base to dwindle to virtually nothing (not too far to go on that wish!). I want USF to make Vanderbilt, Baylor, and Rutgers look good by comparison.

Um,,,, whatever. I wouldn't be surprised if UL won both the football and basketball championships next year. Hating them is one thing. You better respect them also.

It doesn't matter if we stayed in CUSA, go to the Big East, or go to the Big Sky, Pitino came here to take us back to the top of the college basketball world, and it's apparent the train is now rolling; the Pitino Dynasty has begun.

We should have the #1 recruiting class next year; most definitely if you add in 6-9 Kansas transfer David Padgett who is sitting out this year. Pitino isn't going anywhere, and we will continue to reel in the top recruits.

The Big East should fear us in the coming years.

But the fact is; your AD and President stayed so Louiseville wouldn't have to pay the Millions of Dollars in fines for leaving early. Rather than pay the agreed to early departure penalty they negotiated to stay and play the ESPN games for 4 years.

Weaseling out of those ESPN games by playing CUSA teams who previously weren't even in the CUSA was Jurichs way of getting back at R.C.!!!

Let's see if ESPN holds UC & Louiseville to the letter of the contract; it will be a great day in Tiger Land.

But all that said; I think Louiseville and UC will be very competitive in BB. Louiseville also has a chance to dominate in FB. USF has no chance in either; and will stink it up badly.
