FAU improved to 29-19,15-11 with a sweep of Mercer 4-1 and 14-4 in the nightcap. Mickey Storey's pitching led FAU to the win in the opener with 8 strong innings of one run ball and the offense cranked out 4 homeruns in the nightcap form Mascia, Widlanssky, Shapland, and Terpak. FAU goes for the sweep Friday at 1pm.

FAU Completes the Sweep of Mercer
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Mercer baseball couldn’t hang on to an early lead as Florida Atlantic completes the three-game sweep of the Bears with a 15-10 win on Friday at FAU Stadium.
Florida Atlantic (30-19, 16-11) centerfielder Mike McBryde had an impressive day, going 5-6 with two runs score and five RBI.
Mercer (26-24, 10-16) jumped out to an early 6-2 lead with a five run inning in the top of the third.
FAU chipped away with a one run in the bottom of the fourth and another in the bottom of the fifth.
The Bears opened up the lead with three runs in the top of the fifth, staking them to a 9-4 lead.
But the Owls bats came to life in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs to grab a 10-9 lead they would not relinquish. FAU added four more runs in the bottom of the sixth and another in the bottom of the seventh.
Mercer scored in the top of the eighth to narrow the gap to the eventual final score 15-10.
Josh Thompson had a good day for the Bears at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.
John Dortch, Andrew Einert, Daniel Hurst and Brandon Reichert all had two hits for Mercer. Hurst scored three runs in the game.
Owl first-baseman Mike McKenna was 3-for-5 on the day, with two homers, three RBI and three runs scored.
Mercer will host Central Florida on Thursday, May 19th at Claude Smith Field in the final series of the 2005 regular season. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 6 p.m.
