This is one of three basketball PICK'EM contests this year, along with the PICK'EM for all 110 conference games (picked weekly) and the TOURNAMENT PICK'EM.

For SUMMER PICK'EM, post a reply on this thread showing your predictions for the final standings (#1 through #11) by Sunday 9-4-05 10:00 p.m. Edits are o.k. until the deadline.

Scoring is similar to strokes over par in golf and is based on the number of positions you're "off" for each team. A perfect prediction will have a score of "0" (stokes over par). If you pick KSU 9th and UNF 11th but KSU actually finishes 11th and UNF finishes 9th, you'll get "4" (strokes over par) - 11-9=2 for KSU and 11-9=2 for UNF.

Predictions will be compared to conference standings for results, with Sagarin rankings as a tie breaker. For the final results, tournament seedings will be used. If UNF or KSU (ineligible for tournament) tie with tournament participants, Sagarin rankings will be used for those particular schools.

Result updates will be posted each Sunday evening during conference play.

Grand prize, awarded in March 2006, is the knowledge that you won and being forever etched in the ASunBBS archives as winning the 2005 SUMMER PICK'EM contest!!

*I think GWU and ETSU will develop into a nice rivalry. Ha...they had better, they are the only school within 5 hours of us.

Actually Kennesaw State is between 4 & 4.5 hours from ETSU. :)
I have some bad news about KSU!! We lost several of our best "returning" players last year for stupid reasons. Players I counted on will no longer be playing for us. I looked at the roster pretty much have a brand new team. Its awful! Although, we did pick up Dusty Moore out of Alabama. He was at one point ranked the 60th best high school player in the nation. He also holds one of the state rebounding records. So we will have to see.
kr, what happened to those players? Academic elgibility issues? That's unfortunate. I'm really interested to see how you guys will make the transition.

Good luck. I plan on coming down to Kennesaw. It's one of the closer sites from ETSU.

I think the league will shape up a lot like last season. A couple of teams may pull away at the top, but the league should be pretty even.

Until proven otherwise, I see ETSU as a very average A-Sun team. I'm a diehard fan, but there are too many unanswered questions. Still remains to be seen if everyone is academically eligible, two players had surgery this summer, a third is returning after a redshirt year from foot problems caused by forced weight gain. Far more than half the team is new this year.

FYI, ETSU didn't know what defense was last year. I couldn't count the number of players who had career nights from behind the arc on the Bucs last year. If no defense is played this year, it could be a long cold winter in Tri-CIties.

I hope the Bucs prove me wrong.

I think JU has a chance to be a little bit better than expected. I was under the assumption that FAU was going to the SunBelt this year.

Belmont is that far from ETSU?
