Just wanted to know some one-of-a-kind and rare Memphis items everyone has in their collections....
I just recirved a game worn GMAC bowl helmet, I also have some rare autographs, older game worn football helmets, some basketball and football game worn jerseys!
If any one wants to sell some of their memorabilia, let me know im trying to build up a good collection. If not wanting to sell, still post what you have, I would like to know what everyone has... Thanks!
My wife was at Tiger Bookstore on Tuesday and bumped into DeAngelo (He had 2 of the OL w/him). She bought a football and had him sign it.
That's the best I can think of.
2 foot long piece of UT vs Memphis goal post from 1996 victory
I don't have much Memphis stuff, but I (along with my Dad and Step-Dad) do have some Tiger stuff along with these various other sports collectibles:
Michael Jordan signed and framed b-ball; Bart Starr signed and framed personal picture to me (as a newborn baby) and the entire 1981 Green Bay football team on a NFL football; Penny Hardaway signature on a framed $1 dollar bill and framed rookie card; Lorenzen Wright signature on a framed $1 bill; Joe Frazier signed and framed boxing gloves; Scottie Pippen signature on a framed rookie card; Professionally framed front page and front sports page from the New Orleans Bowl; framed picture of old man and Phil Fulmer; placard from Phil Fulmer with team picture and results of '98 National Champs; 20 signed baseballs (per ballplayer) from Mark Grace, Cal Ripken and two others I cannot remember. That's all I can remember off the top of my head, I know there's some other stuff. My Step-Dad has all sorts of memorabilia at his office and our storage building, but I cannot remember. My Dad has some signed Tiger and UT stuff at his office and house and I just cannot remember all of it. It's a pretty neat collection. Go Tigers.
I have the game program of the first game in the Liberty Bowl between OM and the Tigers.
 I had this - just don't know where it went

That a big *** Kicker and Punter's Helmet. Hey, it's got wheels too!
I'll have to put a picture of my Tiger wall on here. It's mostly recent stuff, but I've got this one cool thing that I found at an antique store in Collierville. It's a McDonald's serving tray that commemorated Memphis State homecoming from 1986.

Great post! I have three of those McD's / Tiger serving trays from homecomings, a piece of the post from the UT win and my prize...a print from the Metro conference featuring the Pouncer's den with caged, stuffed and/or captured mascots from the other Metro Conf. schools. Its great!

I have an autographed rookie card from Penny Hardaway and an autougraph from Cedric Henderson when he played for the Huntsville Flight which is about 35-40 minute drive from me. This card collector once offered me $200.00 for the Hardaway card (back in Penny's prime years with the Magic) but I told him no, it wasn't for sale that Penny himself signed it for me. Did I make a mistake? I don't think so.

I played intramural sports with Keith Wright. Very nice, down to earth guy. He ran track for us among other things.

I'm crushed that you didn't mention your original copy of the '77 Ole Miss offense scouting report.

You mean the unopened and unread one?
Lots of old stuff--my favorites include that great old 45 record "It's BBBBBBasketball" from the great Keith Lee era and a autographed copy of "Rebel Coach" by JV and Spook as JV mentioned the 0-0 game as one of the best ever.

I believe the
OM defense scouting report was the one that was unopened. The final score that year was 7-3 OM.

* i have a memphis state... well hell  i don't know exactly what you call this but it's grey and it has MEMPHIS over the top (and a paw in the middle) with STATE underneath, it's made of foam and it has a hole in the middle, i use it for a pen, pencil & sharpie holder
* 2 folding seats (used for the football game or fieldhouse i guess) with memphis state university on them in mint conditon & they are blue & white
* 1995-1996 basketball media guide
* memphis chicks seat cushion (had to throw that in) i got from a yard sale last year
* got a hand painted orlando magic hat from a guy some years back when penny & vaughn were playing there and had it signed by both of them
The only unique things that I can add to this list are:
1. "Commorative Expansion Coin" from Sept 5, 1987 Liberty Bowl expansion opening game Memphis VS Mississippi. (Damon Young game)
2. Coca Cola ashtray recognizing the 59-60 Tiger NIT basketball team.
The two items I have that I treasure the most are the 1956-57 Basketball Media Guide and the 1958-59 Basketball Media Guide. The '56 guide may have been the first available. I have never seen one for any year before that.

Newest edition: I have a signed game helmet from DeAngelo.
Oldest: I have Anfernee's signature on an old Mid-south Coliseum Pop-corn box. The year he had to sit out for academics.
Andre Turner card, Keith Lee Card, all sorts of Penny Cards and Elliot Perry cards.
Didn't Penny get special permission to play?
I don't think he sat out a year.

Penny was a Prop 48 his freshman year.
Right. He had to sit out his freshman year (1990-91) because of academics. I remember during his senior year at Treadwell (1989-90) he was constantly sitting out games because of academics there as well. He would sit out a few games, then come back and score 50.
The sad thing about him missing his freshman year was that if he had had his head screwed on right and had played in 90-91, the starting lineup would probably have been:
PG- Tony Madlock
SG- Elliot Perry
SF- Anfernee Hardaway
PF- Ernest Smith
C- Anthony Douglas
I think that starting five could have done some damage. Plus you would have had Billy Smith coming off the bench.

I almost forgot the Shoney's Tiger clickers - I've got a few of those things. Also have about 4 or 5 of those blue Terrible Tiger Towels they gave out one year instead of pom pons.
When he was 8, my husband won a Memphis State basketball signed by all of the 1984-1985 final four team. It's still in pretty good shape, he keeps it in a display case in his office.
so much for the story that not all of them could write...
