MAC teams didn't think the season started until next week. Who forgot to send out the memo?
Texas A&M has a bad defense, but Toledo's make theirs look like the Steel Curtain.
True Story #1: Despite clear skies, for some reason my town's electricity went out for an hour. Too bad it didn't go out the entire Saturday.
The Big Ten's new "instant review" rule is not used for the Indiana-Central Michigan game due to it not being televised. With regard to the latter, thank the Lord for small favors.
Marshall proved last year's game with Troy was no fluke.
Miami was only five interceptions away from winning.
There is no truth to the rumor the Toledo defense failed to deplane Friday in Minneapolis and are now somewhere in Manitoba.
I hear great ice cream is made on the campuses of Wisconsin and Penn State. At least UCF and Akron can lick more than their wounds.
True Story #2: Saturday afternoon an irate man comes to my door and informs me part of my newly re-gravelled driveway is actually on his property. Let's see; I've lived here for over a year and he waits until now to tell me this? Sure.... I'm a MAC fan and now part of my place is offsides!
Ball State had a record crowd of 23K+ against Boston College. Just how tiny is their stadium anyway?
How many MAC defenders does it take to screw in a lockerroom light bulb? It must be eleven, because I didn't notice any out on the field.
If only C-USA would have taken MUg and UCF early, the MAC would have had two less losses.
True Story #3: Part of the Toledo-Minnesota game on ESPN2 was bumped in favor of showing Notre Dame-BYU due to the rain delay of the Oregon State-LSU contest. Since I have satellite TV, I was able to watch the entire game on ESPN2-Alternate. I'm now thinking of switching back to cable.
Is it just me or didn't Glen Mason have a "Steve Spurrier" smirk on his face?
The MAC's national championship hopes now rest in no particular order with Eastern Michigan, Ohio, and Western Michigan.
Central Michigan has a new coach, but played with the same ole crap.
The Rocket's defense was so bad they allowed Minnesota's punter to run for two first downs.
Will the MAC win a single non-league game this year against a I-A team?
Yo Mr. Cribbs, ya have any extra doobies to kill the pain?
Charlie Frye failed to connect on 20% of his passes. Whoa! Are things so bad I even managed to turn that into a negative. Here are some other silver linings...
The Ball State "D" played well, especially with their steller punter constantly pinning the opponent to the shadow of their goalpost.
Ryne Robinson had three awesome punt returns against Michigan. Is Lloyd Carr stupid or just stubburn?
Despite NIU being without steady QB Josh Haldi for all but the first series of the game, the Huskies hung with ranked Maryland. Take that, Lee "Terrepins by 21" Corso!!!
Toledo's Lance Moore and BG's Charles Sharon must have Velcro for hands.
While the final scores aren't indicative, both Bowling Green and Miami drove into enemy territory during the mid-4th quarter with chances to get within one TD of Oklahoma and Michigan.
Finally...
As bad as it was for MAC players this week, at least they aren't the Oregon State placekicker.
